Beyond the Dostoevsky-related sites in Staraya Russa are a number of other interesting buildings and places. The hotel has an excellent sauna and very helpful staff. Heavy curtains on the windows reduce the problem of sleeping during the "white Nights" of the northern summer. Could nor buy any seltzer at the hotel, however, which was rather strange.
