Sorry for not posting review sooner, we stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it, the rooms are large, well equipped with large modern bathrooms, Marinela herself was great, very hospitable, the food, high quality local produce and plenty of it, the hotel is well situated for visiting all the local sites, merry cemetery, mountain railway etc we have visited Romania 6 times now, always with the our local guide Ilona and this is by far the best trip we have made, the area is fantastic but transport and a guide is essential. Marinela thank your staff for me for making our visit so enjoyable and thanks for the gifts especially the plum brandy, we are discussing our next visit probably next April so hopefully we will be seeing you then

3 night stay with friends and tour guide

The place is warm and welcoming, makes you feel like you're staying in a family's home.

I was in a party of 3 friends with our romanian guide.The owner,Marinela, could not have been more welcoming,providing us with breakfast more suited to our asking-fried eggs,toast and coffee rather than traditional fare.
The rooms are comfortable, staff pleasant and adequate car parking.
A 5 minute drive into Sighetu Marmatiei if you want to eat out.

well worth a visit

It was a Saturday in August – peak tourist season - and all the hotels in Sighetul Marmatiei were booked. I found this place, essentially a guesthouse, searching on line. I called and they told me that there was one room available. It is a bit out of the way and you need the help of a GPS to find it. I almost changed my mind when I arrived at the end of the paved road (actually, the unpaved part is just couple of hundred yards) but the alternative – to drive to another town late in the evening was not too appealing.  

I pulled into the courtyard of the house looking for a reception but instead from the kitchen came a woman festively dressed in the traditional attire of Maramures, and she showed me the room. The room was cozy and private and gave you the feeling of being the guest of the house. They had a restaurant as well and she asked me if I needed the dinner. I did not but then she asked me to come to the dining room anyway because they had a folkloric show. The show was quite good. In the morning I had to leave early but they would not let me leave without having my coffee first - quite a charming place.

A pleasant surprise

It's a very nice pension located close to Sighetu Marmatiei. The rooms are nice and comfortable and the food is delicious. You can also take pictures of the traditional room and can put on some traditional clothing. Worth stopping by.
