Raven's Nest

Perfect combination between the natural beauty of the surroundings and the whole concept of accomodation: old houses painstainkingly  refurbished with great care for details but with all the modern amenities, old romanian dishes cooked to perfection, unique Spa area. The staff is wonderful: friendly, nice and ready to help their guests to have a memorable experience.

Our stay at this resort was simply amazing. A piece of paradise in Romania. If you eant tó leave everything behind, enjoy the nature, stroll around and enjoy good food with amazing landscape this needs to be on your bucket list. The staff was amazing and welcoming. The sauna and jacuzzi with 'piece of heaven' view was breathtaking. Rustic design and romanian cuisine was served everyday and the manager Hans and Rudi and the rest of the staff special cudos. I love this place and will come Back. 

This is one of the most stunning eco-lodges in a Eastern Europe. It’s hard to get to but I have done it twice on a Harley Davidson Fatboy so it’s not that challenging although I wouldn’t advise trying to come in a low slung sports car as there is a substantial dirt road to reach your destination. (I was advised they offer a collection service from the local village) However this is all part of the charm. The staff are upbeat and helpful, the rooms are rustic chic, with highest quality sheets, duvets and mattresses but situated in traditional wooden chalets typical of the Apuseni region. Lunch and dinners are simple but wholesome and sourced from the local area. Sitting in the hot tub on their upper deck with endless views across the rolling hills and distant mountains with a cold mojito is as close to paradise I have had the pleasure to experience on my many journeys around Transylvania. As for breakfast it has everything - I challenge anyone (who isn’t either lying or working for the competition to say anything less than superlative - fresh yoghurts and fruit, cereals, pates and locally made bread (or toast) with the English breakfast options of crispy bacon, poached or fried or scrambled eggs and steamed fresh vegetables. I opted to stay in one of the three new cabins in the forest where I had my own private jacuzzi and sauna, ground floor and bedroom terraces with views out over the cliffs and my own sitting room, powered by heat pumps and solar energy. Congratulations- this is the next generation of eco-tourism. I would commend it to anyone providing they are relaxed, open, appreciate good taste and traditional architecture and of course love being close to nature!

No words would be enough to describe the beauty of this place... Simply breathtaking!!! In the middle of nature a hidden nest with nice traditional houses,  impeccable customer care services and with all comfort included. They have a gorgeous restaurant also with homemade delicious meals and cocktails and drinks professionally made. The kindness of the personnel is just the cherry on the top of the cake. The terrace on the top of the hill with the view on the large landscape will definetely leave you without words. We used as well the outdoor Spa area with sauna and jacuzzi with the gorgeous  360° view. Was a great experience  that you wouldn't want to miss. All in one and simply , this I call perfection! Thank you all for everything, we'll be back as soon as possible! :) 

Fantastic accommodations with everything you need: good signal for GSM and Wi-Fi, ultra comfy rooms styled traditional Romanian with great attention to detail, bathrooms with all needed appliances and consumables, and ofc, hot water.

It is hard to believe that such great service and hospitality is existing in this area. Stadf is amazing, for me a person who is traveling a lot was the best experience I had in Romania when it comes to staff and how they treated us during this amazing weekend. Area is great for nice walks, trail running, amazing view point to have a great wine, spa is a must but book it for 2 hours. Perfect spot to spend 2-3 nights not far away from big cities like Cluj, Sibiu. Congrats for the owner and all the staff!

We were really delighted with our stay at Raven's Nest as it is a very very very beautiful place, a hidden village, traditional and with all the facilities needed. The rooms are beautiful, nice-looking, decorated with traditional souvenirs.
The food is very tasty, a lot of traditional dishes.
Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms. This locafion is peefect to spend a few quiet days.
The thing that makes this such a wonderful place to stay are the staff. The staff is like a big family and you are more than welcome to be a part of it.  All are incredibly kind, smiling, helpful and generous with their time and advice. Undoubtedly the most friendly hosts who we have met in our lives.

Booked a room in "Casa de mijloc" for two nights. A very rural authentic experience with a super comfortable bed in which we immediately fell asleep for 2 hours after we checked in.
The hotel grounds are very nice for walking and paths are carefully made in their forest. You can go to the hammock forest in which you can relax or sleep to the tune of the birds. There are 2 viewpoints from which you can see the whole valley and they have sun-beds to relax and enjoy the spectacular views. There is also an outdoor cinema.
They also have a ciubar jacuzzi and a sauna. What we liked is that you just need to make a reservation and you have them both to yourself for an hour. Free of charge.
The food was great with one exception. When we arrived we had lunch which consisted of a cabbage soup and some lasagna. They were really not that great and tasty. The next meals (dinner, breakfast, lunch, dinner) were really tasty and good. They also have a good selection of beers (craft) and wines.
We really liked that they were implementing all the Covid prevention rules, like during breakfast they would pick your food for you.
The rood to this fabulous place, although really rocky and steep in some points, provides for spectacular views.
You could go hiking, which we did since nearby there are a lot of place to visit. We played with adorable baby cats that were 1 month old. Of course, when you go there they probably  won't be babies anymore :).
Not to forget the staff. They were all super friendly and helpful. I've never seen friendlier people in my life, probably because they are from our NW part of the country.
All in all a very relaxing stay and a great place to visit.

The best place in Romania I have visited so far. The food is great and unique even though it’s pricey. Drinks are extremely delicious. We had a negroni and a bottle of riesling. The pool is the main attraction but it’s only open between 6-9 pm. Breakfast was very good, they had all kinds of milk. We only stayed for one night but we’re definitely coming back. The only bad thing about the place is the road, a lot of stones and slopes but it’s worth. You can only go by reservation. 

We've booked the place based on the reviews here and other sites and were a bit worried as we had a few other experiences where places with a perfect rating on TA for us were a complete disaster. 
However this was not the case. 

The place is on a private properly around 45 minutes drive from the village. If you are from Romania or other countries more in the East that do not have paved roads everywhere (no offense here) then it's a nice slow ride through to Raven's nest. If you are from more developed countries then be aware the road is not paved and can be a bit tricky especially if you come late at night. But go slow and you will arrive there. 

You can only enter if you have a reservation and need to call to open the barrier and from there on you have a few more minutes drive. As the road is a bit steep they kind of arranged it for the car to pass when it is rainy so again go slowly and you will get to the parking. 

The place itself it is extremely beautiful. 3 houses reconstructed and the main restaurant, bar and even relax area I would say. 

We stayed in the first house on the right up and had a bit of a view in the morning when the clouds and mist will go up. 

What I did like was the overall design of the room and the place itself. It was decorated to be traditional but not too traditional to feel like you are in a museum. More like a modern feel to tradition. 
Bathroom had everything you wanted from enough towels and toiletries and also hot water at mid night as we arrived very late in our first night. 

Silviu who was waiting for us wanted to help us with the luggage but it was ok for us. However if you have a room upstairs and too many things to carry you can just ask for help as people and the staff there are really friendly. 

Food was more than you would want to in the morning from normal milk to almond milk, from jams, traditional dishes like aubergine salad to eggs, even sausages and a long list of good and tasty dishes. 
To be honest we also took lunch and dinner with them but for us we overate. With breakfast and dinner would have been enough. 
They ask you not to bring any food in and just eat with them as indeed they are living off the place for half a year and I am guessing the room rates don;t cover for everything. 

They also have plenty of beverages at decent prices as you would expect in a hotel. I liked the fact that they only had local suppliers no imported beer. And they had proper coffee which for me was a surprise. We even ended up going in Cluj to the place they are buying coffee from to find out it's one of the popular places to buy good coffee. Water is from the spring and you can drink it also from your room. 

They say there are 3 big dogs on the property but when we stayed all 3 of them were tucked away in their own courtyard and never seen them loose. 

And they have plenty of surprises on the property or around : including a jacuzzi, an open air cinema (need to bring your own movies though), internet that works in the property area as if you are in the city, possibility to pay by card, a waterfall nearby and 2 places where you can relax and watch the valley from above. 

The place is not cheap, not on Romanian standards anyhow and even the lunch and dinner are a bit pricey. However if you compare it quality wise with places outside then the prices don't seem so high anymore. 

A long review but definitely a place we were happy to visit and see it exists even in Romania. Quality mixed with tradition and friendly people adding up to a relaxing vacation. Definitely one of the places we would like to come back to and would recommend to anymore visiting either the area or the country.

Piece of heaven:Best Mountain resort in Romania, great food and amazing view

What an adrenalin-fed drive to the front gate! After a bit of a drive from a one-track road to a smaller track to gravel to dirt with no guardrails and steep drop-offs, I said to our cousin, "where are you taking us?" That's how we arrived. But the staff (who are amazing), the food, and the rustic cabins and the rest of the nicely organized and appointed property turned it all into a satisfying two nights and days. At 900 meters altitude, you get a sweeping view and a hot tub if you like. In the heart of Romania and well worth the drive up! Thanks to Rudolf and Hans for all the care when I pulled my back a little.
