This was one of the most favorite parts of our Romanian trip this Fall (Sept 2021). It sure is more than a regular B&B. In terms of hotel rating this can be easily rate a 3-star plus. The food was amazing as Sylvia is a cook by profession. John provided us iwth great insights into the rural life of Maramures and took us to the local farmers'market the next morning. The area is essentially rural although there is the hotel choice. The village is cosy and everyone we met was so helpful.

Authentic Rural Immersion

This is a gem of a B&B, in the heart of rural Maramures, owned by a great local couple. Please note these are real locals, born and raised, and not foreign investors in the prosperous Maramures B&B business.  John and Sylvia are excellent hosts, the whole place was spotless clean, the folklore show was fun and Sylvia cooking was the best we have had during our entire Romania tour.  While there Sylvia had a team of Japanese travel journalists filming a "cooking class" with traditional Romanian dishes. Overall a great experience. No wonder they get fully booked months in advance.

Best Part of Our Country Tour ! Excellent Culinary Experience

The place was chosen by our Romanian tour operator and turned out to be a major highlight. The owners could not be more accommodating. The wife is a professional cook with 30 years of experience and most of their supplies are of organic origin (no wonder, as they live in the countryside). Our two dinners at the house were the best in the entire tour. And so were the rich breakfasts. The rooms were spotless, all with en-suite bathrooms and comfortable. Maramures is essentially rural and we're glad the tour operator gave us the opportunity to experience the daily live in this corner of Europe.

Excellent Cooking & Best Hosts

Our room was in the main house and was okay, although I questioned the freshness of the the slippery printed sheets.  The bath was down the hall (but just used by us).
The food was very salty and fatty and meat predominated; the owner kept trying to get us drink his homebrew.  Strange atmosphere overall.

Room comfortable enough, but the food nearly inedible.

My friend and I (over age 65 women) spent 2 nights here.  It was a favorite part of our 2 week trip to Romania.   John and Sylvia were wonderful hosts and we had most delicious breakfasts and dinners outside in the garden dining area.  We each had our own double bed in 2 rooms connected by french doors--large bathroom was down the hall.  We were able to experience life in this quiet rural area. One morning we walked over to the rug cleaning "whirlpool" operation nearby in the village.    On our last evening John and his musical group perfomed for us. I would recommend this experience for anyone.
