Nautical Dream

I am somewhat of a local to the island being of PR descent, speaking Spanish fluently, and a frequent traveler here. For me this experience was exactly what I was looking for. Although challenging to find, Carlos stayed with me on the telephone until I safely arrived. Off of PR 187 you will turn at Kilometer marking 5.2 and from there it is a straight shot. I stayed in the basement apartment and I found it clean and purposeful for my needs. The A/C works wonderfully and if you leave the bedroom door open the A/C feeds the entire apartment. The kitchen is sparse but functional for making a small pot of coffee, sandwiches, oatmeal, rice/beans, but is not equipped to do a big or full meal. The knives are not very sharp, there is no cutting board, strainers, and there are only two medium sized pots on the cook top. The kitchen does not have a toaster, oven, frying pan. The good news is that the hotel is in one of the best areas in all of Puerto Rico to EAT OUT!!!! Pinones has many affordable kiosks along PR 187 with a host of delicious and affordable fritters and meals that will delight you! The most wonderful part of this hotel, and for me the most magical was the roof top view of the lagoon. Sitting out there at night, doing yoga there in the morning, having a quick lunch under the umbrella, give outstanding views of iguanas crossing the waters, birds of all types soaring above, the music of the coqui....etc. AWESOME! Yes there is the semi-constant noise and presence of airplanes, but that did not bother me. For me, watching those immense aircrafts fly over heard with their engines soaring at night, was my own private air show. The access to the kayaks is a great plus, but you must be able to maneuver them out and in on your own. Carlos was very helpful in giving me some pointers of where to explore on the lagoon. Carlos was also very willing to give me insider tips on local hang out spots, best beaches, favorite eats, and more. I think this is a gem of a spot!
