I’m glad that we rented a car for the week as the hotel food and drinks were so grossly overpriced.  $44 for 2 drinks!!  A terrible value!!  In fact the money saved by NOT eating at the hotel more than paid for our car rental!  My family of 4 spent a week in a single hotel room… upon further investigation, we found multiple Airbnb rentals with multiple rooms and a full kitchen within walking distance for less than half the price.  And, we were charged almost $900 for a “resort” fee and included $15/day parking.  Parking isn’t even included?! An expensive lesson learned…. 

Make sure to rent a car!!

Had a wonderful dinner at Trova even though we weren’t staying at Wyndham. Our server Genesis was outstanding and helped guide us through the extensive wine list. Food was fast and delicious, the creative cocktails were even better. We will be back…thanks Genesis!

Great server and wine!

Carlos Sewaro (I hope I spelled his last name right)  the van driver was super helpful basically while driving us where we needed to go told us about different things we can do and places to go while we were there, and Jose Mavarro again very helpful, Jose was working at the bar by the pool, gave us good pointers and made us a pizza that wasn’t on the menu like with pepperoni and salami! It was amazing.

Not good accommodations for a Celiac, menu isn't accurate online. Drinks are very expensive. $16 for a glass of Sangria. Room doors are warped and make so much noise when opening and closing. Vented/slotted bathroom door, so no privacy.

We really liked this place.  I really didn't read many reviews before I went so it was all kind of new to me.  The main reason we went here is because I saw that it was developed by some of the same people that did Hilton Head.  Anyway, the resort was smaller than I though it would be, which I thought was a big plus.  It is inside a 3,000 acre development.  The pool areas were really nice.  I thought the food prices were reasonable and the food I had was great. (fish sandwich, fish tacos, pizza)  The drink prices where typical from my experience.  The suite we had was really nice.  I already told them but there were some odd things: one small trash can for the whole place in the WC, only one place to sit on the balcony/one lounge chair, strange for a suite,  one handle off a dresser drawer, the windows where very dirty but I'm sure that's because of the weather they have, anyway all very, very minor things.  I really liked the beach because if is still in a very natural state (I'm sure I'm in the minority on that.), nice palm trees, etc.  We thought beach chairs were included but they were not.  The beach chair vendor was hit or miss, not there at all on sunday and packed it up if there was no business so if you are going to be there a while stop at Walmart and buy cheap chairs.  There were millions of very small ants on the beach so you do need chairs.  Another reason to bring chairs is so you can move away from the local hiphop music, if you want/need to.  The free/tip ride to the  plaza was great, plenty of good places to eat there and a small store.  Anyway, we would stay again for sure, maybe/probably in a condo next time.  If you look at google and see all the roads it it deceiving,  There is really one main road and everything else is gated off into very small clusters of condos/townhouses/houses, even in the marina area, so it's really hard to walk around the development. 

Nice stay, it's a nice, small, resort

Excellent service our waiter Yamilex was very servible friendly and attentive.  Our experience overall has been great, we will definitely be coming back.  Everyone is very pleasant and amicable. Beautiful resort.

Experience

Great service. They had a good breakfast and the staff is very friendly. The room is very comfortable and has a nice space. The pool areas are very nice and a good size. All around great staff and very kind. The facilities are very well preserved.

My vacations

Have to mention Caleb, Kenneth and Ramon at the pool bar because we spent a lot of time there. Good drinks and smiles. Food at the pool bar came from the hotels restaurant and was good. When you get room service, it takes an hour. We would spend $400 some days at the pool bar but couldn’t have the staff deliver a $45 bottle of sparkling wine to our room without a signature four hours later than we ordered it. Yes we did order it at at 7 am, but my son signed for it after 11. Trova the only restaurant open, or do we thought , was the same every day. I have to say service was not bad in morning but evenings was terrible. After waiting an hour, we left. We found at the tennis courts, Volero, better food and service. Very nice.

Fun and friendly

Resort is in a beautiful location. Has access to beach, golf courses, pools, tennis, horseback riding. Many restaurants nearby. Resort has good potential. My understanding is it was recently acquired. Much of the areas are under construction. We’ve previously stayed at the Wyndham rio Del Mar which has more restaurant options and onsite entertainment. If they can bring it up to that level I think it could be very good. Staff has been very attentive in all areas of the resort. Happy to great you and be sure you are taken care of. Adalberto went out of his way to find us freshly made muffins this morning when they were previously out. If you are a golfer this location is a no brainer.

Wyndham palmas

Amazing weekend getaway to relax! The staff is very friendly and available to help when you need it. Jose was of great help and gave us great tips for the time of our trip. The pool staff was attentive and the food was great. The hotel is pet friendly and everyone was super eager to know the pets. Chillin with dogs by the pool….it does not get any better! Definitely staying again in the future.
