Duas Nacoes Guest House

Just come back from a four night stay in Porto at this Guest House. If you are looking for five star don’t come here, but if you are looking for a cheap, clean, and relatively comfy base from which to explore this lovely city then go no further! It is definatly more of a hostel, based in a lovely old, characterful town house. We stayed in one of the basic rooms, a bed...with sheets and blankets...a sink and a table and chairs. It did however have a great view over the city from the french doors at the end of the room. Loo and shower were shared..but were kept spotless by the young team on the reception. No kettle...which would be a great addition..but reception were happy to boil a kettle for you! Our room at the front was very noisy at night, but this was minimal when the french doors were closed. We didn’t need much help but the staff were always keen to assist...if some of their English was a bit limited! Duos Nacoes is in a great position for eateries, bars etc but Porto is very hilly..and it’s at the top of the hill, which would be very difficult for those with limited mobility. Added to which there is no lift in the guest house and a lot of stairs! The WiFi was good...and free, which was a bonus.We would certainly stay there again...Porto is a lovely, very Portuguese city with so much to see and do. If you’re loooking for somewhere reasonably priced with a bit of character then this is for you. If you’re used to five star luxury then probably not!
