84 reviewsAfter the hubbub of Lisbon (5 cruise ships were in town when we were there), this was a lovely getaway in the country. My husband had stayed 4 years ago with our daughter and wanted to go back, and I understood why when we got there. The setting is beautiful, and there's lots to do in the area. One day we kayaked down the gently flowing river, another day we did a 47 km bike ride on a paved railway path, and another day we drove through the countryside looking at old Roman and prehistoric ruins. Elena was a kind host and looked after us well, including arranging the kayak trip and bike trip for us. She also provided great breakfasts. One restriction is you need a car, as the place is a little out of the way. Also, we stayed in a unit without a kitchen, in late October (with hardly any other guests at that time of year), and it got dark early but restaurants in the nearby towns did not open for dinner until around 7:30 pm, so it meant driving in the dark on the somewhat steep dirt road to get up to the paved road. Wifi was limited to the pool area and not available in our room. Apart from these minor inconveniences, we had a wonderful stay.
