Stayed three nights, which was just right, with my honey in the original 250 year old main farm house at Herdade da Maroteira near Redondo, Portugal. Upon arrival we were met by our charming hostess, Margarida, who escorted us to our home and gave us a very nice bottle of wine from their award winning vineyard. This beautifully design farm house was huge with two bedrooms, each with full ensuite bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, separate dining room, large sitting room, satellite TV and very quick WiFi. The entire home was spotless and fully furnished. On our first night Margarida arranged for a custom dinner to be served in “our home” and it was an authentic Portuguese meal and delicious. There are three accommodations on the site with varied amenities that are suitable for families. Margarida made dinner reservations for us in Redondo on the second night and carefully listened to our requests with superior service and a smile. The property is remote, tranquil and a step into yesteryear. We had to remind ourselves that we were staying in a 250 year old building that had modern amenities that is not a five star hotel, but a truly authentic Portuguese experience that was priceless.
