The road down is tricky but take the other road back up and its fine,Well worth a visit..total tranquility here with a fabulous family running it and so helpful.Beautiful patio with stunning views from the studio apartment with mercy the cat keeping you company outside lol,...Would definately return here..place is heaven on earth.

We were greeted like long lost cousins - and made so welcome by the family. They catered for our every need. I can not recommend it highly enough.

Only negative was the road down to the Quinta is a bit treacherous if wet - but such a small price to pay for such a wonderful place and host!

We wanted to tour the Serra d'Estrela and chose Oliveira do Hospital as a base preferring to be outside of the town proper .  We had difficulties finding the place until we entered GPS coordinates which took us right there.  Having already done extensive touring of the rural areas in Portugal the steep narrow road down did not disturb us.  It was not in the best location for our touring as we needed to travel to Seia to start our tour but that was only a half hour away.  We returned using the backroads with no problem.  
The owners were very welcoming and helpful.  Our unit was one of the larger ones with a separate bedroom and sitting kitchen area.  They made maximum use of the space by installing a dropdown table for dining.  For our 2 nights we found the small space quite adequate and stalked with all the cooking suppies we needed.  We did not take advantage of the 5 euro breakfast choosing to make our own.  As we felt it would be a very dark road to return on we decided not to go to one of the good restaurants in town.
Overall good value at this clean quinta

Very small clean apartment hotel. In a very quiet area with lovely views.
The staff are very accomodating and friendly. This is an excellent base in which to explore the beautiful countryside. Within easy reach of the town for all your day to day requirements.
