We stayed for 3 nights. A smal and cozy hotel. The owners gave us a warm welcome and tended to all our needs. They provided us with bread and bars for our hikes and took an interest in our activities. They served fresh orange juice and new pastries to every breakfast. During the days tea, coffee and cake were available. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it for everyone

We left the car a bit further, as this house with five double rooms is in a narrow street. We were welcomed in full Portuguese (viva Google Translate) by a friendly woman who gave us a nice piece of cake and tea before bringing us up the stairs to our room.

The room is quite small (mountain village) but the white decoration worked on us. We were happy with the bathroom and the bed. No real mountains views or terrace to expect, though. 

There are some small remarks, but not worth mentioning here. 

And then there is breakfast. As you will have read anywhere else: superb! Fresh, 101 options, full of taste, ... Already a reason on its own you'd come back to start hiking with a full and happy stomach in the beautiful mountains/hills. 

It's not that we were blown away by this spot, but it as all and more that you'd expect for this price.

We stayed 3 nights to wait out rainy weather, and take day hikes when possible. Very clean. The rooms themselves are very small, but we managed to find places to put unnecessary room items so we could lay out suitcases. 
The downstairs is very nice and basically we had it all to ourselves, being the only renters almost the entire time. The wifi worked well.
Josefa was very accommodating. She doesn't speak English, but we used Google Translate when necessary. She gave us written info about hiking. She offers a nice breakfast. She did our laundry for free.
Finding the place was a challenge. Our Google Navigator GPS app did not take us to the correct spot, plus tried to direct us down a one-way street the wrong way. Fortunately, we asked some local people, and they walked us right over. Also, parking right at the lodging is a challenge, with a very narrow street. I suggest stopping at the Information Center and getting a map first. Ask for advice on parking nearby, but not on the exact street. Once you get there, it's a very good location for walking around Manteigas.

This is a solid budget choice. The friendly owner Josefa took good care of us. The place is spotless and well located. Parking on the street. Fantastic breakfast with fresh oj, yogurt,assorted breads, local cheeses, jams, cakes, coffee tea. We will be back for sure. Thank you Josefa, you are the best. 

While we were searching for a place to stay while our stay in beautiful Serra da Estrela, Casa d'Avenida seemed a very good place to stay and enjoy what Manteigas and Serra da Estrela could offer us. Well, the place and the lovely owners overpassed our expectations. The house has 4 different and very nicely decorated rooms and a lovely kitchen and living room in the ground floor. Our room was simple cute and very comfortable and also had a nice balcony where we could sit down and take a look at the lovely mountains this valley is surrounded by. Everything is new, in excelent condition and decorated with very good taste.
And when it comes to the owners, Josefa is a real sweetheart and even when she only speaks Portuguese, we could understand and she will make everything for you to be comfortable, the same as her daughter. The breakfasts offered are also spectacular, you have available bread and pasteis directly brought from a bakery, together with local cheeses and anything you can find in a buffet breakfast, but with very good quality!!!
All in all, we can only say we even enjoyed our stay in Manteigas much more due to this closeness, the helop we got from the owners and the fact we had a very nice time in this guethouse whenever we were back from some hiking or visit to other towns or natural places. Without any doubt we will come back to Casa d'Avenida if we are back to Serra da Estrela!!!
