First class apartment in block of 12. Two ladies. Elizabeth and Gracie were very attentive and kept the apartment spotless. The position was also very good, only a shortish walk from Funchal centre, and close to a mini market which stocked all essentials

We stayed here for 10 days on our vacation to Funchal Madeira.
Fantastic location very close to the centre of the city. A 10 -15 minute walk away from restaurant alley.
We felt very safe there.
We had the sea view apt which had a great view of the city, mountains and ocean 
The lovely lady who cleaned was great. She took very good care of cleaning our room
The building is a little tired (it is an older building) and could use a little sprucing up but overall clean. ( the balcony door windows could be cleaned a little better so the streaks in the glass don’t distract the lovely view)

The first 4 days you have complimentary coffee for the coffee maker. After 4 days you have to pay, but that was ok because there is a great little coffee shop just downstairs next door that makes great coffee for cheap.
The pizza restaurant Ratatouille just downstairs two doors down was fantastic for casual dining and a drink if some evenings you don’t want to go far and want a reasonably priced meal, a drink or order a pizza for takeout. Staff is friendly and great. 
A small little supermarket just down the street and larger supermarkets not too far of a walk away.
Staff at the apartment were helpful if we had questions  Just a phone-call away.

Make sure you call ahead to let them know when you are arriving because they do not have a reception area. Someone is not there all the time.
We will stay there again.

Stay at the "Arts in the City" Funchal as it is now called for an overnight stop.
Friendly reception on arrival, the apartment was clean and has had a contemporary makeover since the photos on earlier reviews. (See the Arts In company website for photos).
Slightly off the beaten track, meant slightly less noise, yet still within walking distance into main Funchal.
Quick and easy stayover.... Nice.

Great location, easy walking distance to old town but a little away from the hustle and bustle. This is however a thriving and real capital city so don't expect silence for uninterrupted night's sleep. 
The apartment is very clean, simple modern furniture and a good shower (essential). Good free wifi. 
The only negative are somewhat limited crockery, glasses and cutlery even for two of us eating out apart from breakfast. Also be aware there's no aircon but then this is 3 star accommodation so you can't really expect it - this would be an issue at different times of year, thankfully in October the humidity has gone, the breeze is up but it's still high 20's - perfect. 
We were lucky enough to book an apartment with very small balcony but at least you can open the doors wide and sit outside for breakfast and a drink. 

when we got there we found they had changed the name to artsin madeira. the taxi driver we had phoned to check he had the right place, he also rang them as no one was there to meet us. only took about fifteen mins for someone to come and let us in. the apartment we had was very roomy a godd well stocked kitchen with everything you will need. bathroom also okay with good shower.nice location for town and sea front. some very nice places to eat along front. all in all good value for money.
