Salitre Hostel

placed in centre of Lisbon and some parking nearby is a good solution for people wanting to stay in city centre. Staff very helpfull and conditions are ok. Breakfast was also ok and we enjoyed the stay. Maybe wifi could work a little better

I would definitely recommend this hostel. Affordable, 1 block from the metro (Yellow line), the personnel were kind and nice, it was very clean and the room we had (twin) was excellent. Things to improve: the breakfast variety could be better (I also lodged in a different hostel in Lisbon, and for the same price, the breakfast was excellent) and the number of toilets (1 for at the ground floor in the women's bathroom) were insufficient. Despite these two details, I would still return.

Good hostel in an excellent location

family stay

I stayed at the Salitre hostel in October 2016 for just a night with 3 friends of mine. The hostel itself is located pretty good so you can visit most of the city by walking. The staff was really nice and accommodating. We could leave our luggage until we checked in and after we checked out. We stayed in a 4-bed dormitory which had 2 bunk beds in it. The room seemed really clean and tidy. Beds were already made which is a nice bonus to have at a hostel. 
I was happily surprised when looking at the room but this surprise turned into disgust when I decided to take a shower before we went out to see the city. The girls' showers' ceiling is covered in mould. Also the caulks inbetween the tiles were partly mouldy. So I just tried to get the shower over with as quickly as possible.  I talked to the staff if they were aware of the mould and they told me that they're going to renovate their hostel by the end of the year. 
The breakfast is rather small - bread, jam, butter and some cornflakes besides tea, instant coffee and juice. I passed on that and got food that fits my needs. ;)  
If they are going to solve the mould - situation I would definitely stay at the salitre hostel again.

nice staff, good room but mouldy bathroom

The hostel has a very good location and is only a few minutes away from the city centre  with very close access to all transport. The girl at the reception vas very nice and polite and very interested in helping us. Rooms and bathrooms are clean but not up to date. The curtains on the showers are not washed regularly and there is a lot of mold in the bathrooms and also in the bedrooms. The hostel needs a renovation...

Cleanliness of the shared places (bathroom, kitchen).
I think that there could be better care of the towels offered - on our towels were stains, although they were washed. I understand that not everything is possible to wash, but the staff should be more careful about this. It doesn´t make a good impression. 
Odor in the shared bathroom - but that is the problem of sharing I think. And the fact, that you can´t throw the paper in the toilet because of the thin tubes...
