It's basically a hostel with a more attractive name but it doesn't change the substance: Welcome Family Guest House The only positive note is the location at the foot of the Alfama and all in all the street next to the station is not so notorious. For the rest it would be much better a real hostel for which you know what to expect. The check is done in the bar just below where in the evening there's only one guy who makes us wait quite a while, the towels are paid (2 euros), the upholstery and electrical system are all a little precarious. We had a room with 5 very small beds, just the space to walk around, with a shared bathroom, another small 5 beds with a external private door which means the door has a key, but you have to get out of the bathroom, and the outside door is not a problem.

Just for the location.

We were in this facility in August, we were in 4 and we took a normal quadruple. The area is full of restaurants with the classic Fado, wonderful! Only during the day there are a few annoying people who do the parking, but in the evening it is quiet. To get to the rooms you have to climb a few steep stairs, it is a bit tedious with the suitcases but it is passable. The bathrooms were in the average hostels, it always depends on the people who are there and how they leave the bathrooms, but it was quite clean. Breakfast is a little scarcely but it is free and it is not a service that many in Lisbon offer.

Without too much pretence

The building immediately gives a bad impression, the interior where the reception is located was nice but they settled us in the next rooms. ours was a quadruple with two castle beds and two singles and there was nothing else and you had to arrange things on the ground. The bathroom was in common but the cleaning leaves to be desired. Too bad because if they treated these shortcomings for the location and the price, we paid 30 euros in three, we would be recommended. Next there is a place where we ate very well, full local menu and beer at 5 euros, it is unbelievable.

I'd only come back for the dislocation.

As I had to take the train at dawn to Coimbra, my choice fell on this hostel, given the proximity (very few meters) to the train station of St. Apolônia. And this is the only advantage. The night neighborhood is not at all reassuring, my room (a double on the third floor) was tiny for me that I was alone. All in all, the cleaning was acceptable, like the bathrooms in the common but they are not the best. In my room the Wi-Fi didn't arrive, the girl (Asian and very polite) at the reception spoke a good English but didn't seem to have even a word of Portuguese. After agreeing with my host, my hostel owner around 22, he didn't arrive at the reception.

I don't think I'm going back to that...

The staff is nice and the hostel is quite clean, but my room was so small (it was a double one) that we had to take shifts to change because there were no two open suitcases. There was not even a chair in the room where we could put our items or clothes so we were forced to open and close the suitcases continuously to lay our stuff down. Another negative note: the bathrooms, even those that are too small and narrow.
