Of course, it's not expensive for a hotel in Lisbon in the centre. Old, dark place and very small and common bathroom on the whole floor, but no chichis for the price either... Only the bedding is very bad (a plywood board as a summer), the hyper noisy street until 3am and from 6am... I haven't slept for the last two nights. This place is so small budget and you want to party out at night or the noise doesn't bother you to sleep. If I had known I wouldn't have chosen this place, it's a bad memory.

No, not at all!

El albergue is old but it was clean, the room was very large, but the best is the location in Barrio Alto, perfect on a street of many bars to enjoy a good night in Lisbon.

Very good location and good price.

The hotel is in a great location, with Elevador de Santa only a few minutes away. It's also very close to two metro stops.

The staff were friendly, despite some lack of English, and the hotel itself was rather quaint and cute. It was hardly luxurious but it was fine for a few days.

The street outside, however, is very noisy with all the bars. I'm a heavy sleeper but, especially on the Friday night, I couldn't get to sleep for hours. For this reason alone, I wouldn't stay here again. Which is a shame, because the staff were great!

Lovely hotel but shame about the noise

Of course we choose this location for the position and for the price, but we expected a different situation. We went there at the beginning of December and the weather was really cold: the hostel hadn't the heating, at all. We were freezing not only during the night, but also in the morning. Another problem was the dust in the room: I'm allergic and the towels and the blankets were full of that and this was tragic for me. I'm not complaining about the music because it's not their fault and we expected that. But it wasn't a pleasure to sleep there.at all.

Best position but that's all.

Very good welcome.

The reception is always open, the lady speaks only Portuguese, but with a little attention, you understand very well, especially we Italians. Spacious rooms but large and clean. Common bathroom a little too small. As others have already said, since the structure is located in the Upper Quarter, the night is not exactly silent. Recommended.

Central and economic position

If you like the movie and have a heavy sleep, this place is more than fine, otherwise get ready to spend sleepless nights or look for accommodation elsewhere. We were in two and we were set up in a triple (not requested but at the same price of a double) very spacious, with a terrace on the main street and another on the side street, at night an ABMINEVOLE casino. Very high music until late night, you go out continuously with people, truck to clean the streets at dawn.

Look, for that price at that location what do you expect?  The place is very old and seedy, but was clean and above all, comfortable. I don't like these concrete and glass monstrosities with their shiny tables and their shiny staff.  Here you can go and get a good meal and wine for a reasonable price and the whole Barrio is pleasant and relaxed.  To complain about staff not speaking English, to me, is really weird.  Where do you think you are??  Its noisy at night, but good humoured noise.  Earplugs recommended if necessary.   I slept like a log.  Highly recommended to ordinary humans!

The only thing good about this place was the price. The bathrooms were really disgusting.. Everything in this place is old and dusty.. And there are no parking spots nearby. If you're going to visit Lisbon by day don't stay here.. The music at night it's just too loud and you can't sleep. If you're going to party this is probably a good place to stay. 

Not that good!

Other reviews, also on other sites, complain about the noise, but it is enough to know a minimum about Lisbon to know that the Bairro Alto is the neighbourhood of the locals, ultra-frequented until late at night. If the thing is not right you need to change the area, you can't blame this on the hostel in question. The structure is old, yes, but clean. Clean the bathrooms, clean the rooms. The rooms are BELL. For fifteen euros a night they provide minimal towels and sheets. The reception is open 24/24, just ring a bell. Simply it is ideal for those who want to enjoy the lively nightlife of the neighborhood. The owner is very nice, just as adorable; the owner is just speaking Italian, but it will always be true, we can always get this towel in the center, especially if we have a hands-only view of the city centre.
