I love this spot and the people who run it. The Eyre's helped me progress as a surfer, and gave me the confidence to paddle out into most intermediate lineups and hold my own. They also cater to beginners and people paddling out for their first time. The lodge is comfy and clean, with private and shared rooms, a great rooftop patio, and looks even better now that it has been renovated. Steps away from the lodge is the beautiful beach/surf break of Maças, with a few other breaks in walking distance. There is a hiking trail with breathtaking views, and more experienced surfers may be interested in taking a short drive to Ericeira to sample some world class waves. The town of Maças is charming with local cafés and seafood restaurants, and the adjacent town of Sintra has castles and old world charm that North Americans such as myself dream of.
