Lagares Douro Villas

We stayed here as a newly married couple for 2 days just after our wedding in July 2017 and this place was fantastic! It's definitely out of the way (which was what we wanted!) but Pedro came to meet us from the motorway so we didn't get lost. When we arrived we were both blown away by beauty of the place. There are two spacious villas completed to a high spec, which both have their own outside space overlooking beautiful views of the mountains and a shared infinity pool. When we stayed however, no-one was in the other villa so we had the place and the pool to ourselves! Pedro had put some lovely touches out for us as we were on honeymoon, from rose petals on the bed to champagne and strawberries - we were spoilt! The breakfast was amazing with a great selection of pastries, fruit, breads, handmade jams and fresh orange. Pedro was absolutely fantastic - checked in with us regularly to see if there was anything we needed, whilst giving us plenty of space to enjoy our break. The pool was lovely - a robot cleaned it every morning while we were having our breakfast so it was really clean, and got the sun all day so lovely and warm (although the poolside loungers have parasols to create shade for anyone who doesn't want too much sun). The only thing I would say after travelling to the villas is that the roads to get there are hair-raising in the dark! But don't let you put this off what is an absolutely amazing place to stay (take the offer to follow Pedro!) as it is well worth the trip. We would highly recommend this place to anyone. The facilities, food and hosts are all absolutely excellent and we would love to return at some point in the future,
