Quinta De Resela

Quinta de Resela is, essentially, a place for wedding receptions, prepared for all the catering necessary for such. However, the owners have created a space outside the main building with well-equipped rooms with remarkably good sound-proofing. As an example, on our final night there, there was a function going on with fireworks, etc. We didn't hear a thing! The Quinta has ample grounds, a playpark, a lovely swimming pool which is off-bounds when there is a wedding on, but available freely to guests the rest of the time. We lived it up a little with large gin and tonics by the poolside. The drinks are extremely reasonable: 3,5EUR each (with free delivery). Since the guest area is relatively small, you never see many people around the pool, which is lovely - no resort style hi-jinx going on - just relaxation. The Quinta is right in the centre of Vinho Verde country, so a little drive will get you anywhere in a short time. It is also very close to Braga, the Peneda-Gerês nature reserve and all the beautiful mediaevel towns nearby. The Quinta has a special dinner price for guests: 10EUR/head all-inclusive. That means three entrées, main course (fish or meat), bread basket, wine, dessert and coffee. All 4-star.We found that the food was so good that we inevitably ate in rather than look for restaurants nearby. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and the manager, Adão, is a very calm, pleasant person to speak to. If you have the slightest qualm, feel free to ask for help, and they will bend over backwards to make sure that your stay is a pleasant one. In fact, the overall feeling of well-being is such that checking-out is actually quite an emotional experience. Definitely worth visiting again!
