9 reviewsI loved this place! And I loved the owner, Andrelina Barbarosa, who was there to assist us every time and gave us a tour of the beautiful gardens that go all the way down the hill to Braga. We stayed in the big room, which has fantastic views over Braga and the valley. The room was really spacious and the traditional furniture and traditional blue-tiled-bathroom were just amazing. The room had also access to the gallery on the side of the house which was designed by Gustave Eiffel, as the old owners of this mansion (some viscounts) were very good friends of his. The house is located 5 minutes drive up the hill from Braga town centre, and within 2 minutes walk from the Bom Jesus church, which has the most impressive staircase you could imagine. Andrelina also recommended a restaurant nearby called Portico, which was fantastic. It was the best meal we had in 5 days in Portugal. I recommend the monkfish and king (and I mean KING) prawn espetada (on a skewer). It was just fabulous! My partner had the roast kid (cabrito) and he really loved it too!
