We recently stayed in this idyllic hotel in the sleepy town of Borba. The owners, Joao and Rita, were so welcoming and had done everything they could to make the stay as Covid 19 safe as possible. They were also incredibly helpful in suggesting places to visit and booking us into various local restaurants. Borba is ideally situated to explore the numerous sites in Alentejo, a region which seems overlooked by a lot of overseas visitors. It's hard to imagine why when there is so much on offer; Unesco sites, a wide array of castles, great food, wine and stunning villages all built in Estremoz pink marble. If you visit Estremoz we thoroughly recommend lunching at a restaurant called Alecrim, the food was delicious. We stay for four nights and there was loads to see - hiring a car is a must. We stayed in Mama's House which was really cute and it has a delightful balcony. If you're considering visiting the Alentejo please stay at this lovely hotel, you will not be disappointed.
