Folwark Stara Kuźnia

If not my daughter who is a fan of culinary blogs, I wouldn’t even know that Stara Kuznia exists. She has found description of the reataurant somewhere on the net and has forced us to visit the place. And that was great experience. Yes, the restaurant (and pension as I’ve learned later on) is in the middle of nowhere but the food served at Stara Kuznia compensates for extra driving effort. The Head Chef (Patrycja Wasiakowska) has quite successfully participated in Polish edition of Top Chef contest – and that’s pretty good recommendation. She serves mostly dishes based on regional products – lamb, fish, game, fresh vegetables. We’ve tried most of the dishes on menu list – and all of them very really good. Lamb was great, I loved pike “farmer’s way”. Steak tartare made of venison was really tasty, grilled fish has also impressed us. Fish soup, which seems to be local specialty needed in my opinion a little bit of extra seasoning. I didn’t try any desserts, however on the neighboring tables they looked great. Wine list was short; they have also few beers… Service – well, nice young guys were trying their best, but the place was full so they’ve had some problems. Décor – the place is supposed to look like old Polish inn – and it does, however I don’t really like dark interiors. The number of tables in the garden is quite low – so it’s difficult to get a place there without booking. Price level – reasonable keeping in mind the quality of served food.
