Hotel Roś

A bit of trickery on the adverts on the booking website that we booked with there was a picture of a new detached style bungalow as a picture that we thought we were getting, as you can guess we did not, there are two such new bungalows at the hotel, but only two. We had an apartment in the main building right next door to the reception with a separate bedroom to the right as you enter with two single beds, a kitchen (that we never used), a beautiful bathroom with just a shower (no bath) a large lounge with a table, TV, sofa and other furniture, and in the lounge was steps to a raised mezzanine bed area with a double bed. The apartment was very large and looked beautiful, we were initially impressed by it. The apartment was spotlessly clean. Then the HEALTH and SAFETY matters came to notice, on the raised mezzanine level with the double bed there are beautiful metal railings, but they DO NOT GO UP VERY HIGH, in fact I felt very uncomfortable sleeping up there as the railings were only slightly higher than the level of the bed. Without much effort or cost an extra level of railings could be placed above the present ones that could remove this insecurity. I certainly would not want to sleep on the mezzanine level if I was intoxicated there is a very real risk of one falling over the railings onto the floor below. Our daughter could never sleep here as she sleep walks. Then there was the stairs leading to the mezzanine level, they are wooden and do not have any grip on them whatsoever. You walk up and down them exceedingly carefully as they are steep, we all told each other to be careful but on our last day one of our party slipped on the stairs and hurt themselves they had a bruise on their back the size of plate and swelling, and bruising on their buttocks. The reception were told of this in Polish and the member of my family was told "No one has reported such an incident before", I do not think anything will be done about it. We may not be young but we are not old and clumsy, we are all accomplished intermediate skiers and are quite agile so this in my opinion is a very real hazard. Sadly for us our beautiful looking but not safe apartment was right next door to the banqueting hall area where there is a bar and you eat breakfast. We were there on a Saturday night when there was a beautiful wedding reception, well it was beautiful for the bride, groom and the guests, but not so beautiful for us who wanted to get to sleep. Anyone who knows about Polish weddings they go on until 06:00am or so with the young bucks and maidens energetically dancing away. This apartment should of been given to a member of the wedding party and us given their rooms, it would of been perfect for them the women could go quickly to get changed into their second dress of the night, and for the chaps a fresh shirt, as it was so close to the wedding reception. A bit of poor forward thinking by the booking staff I am sure a large number of the guests at this wedding stayed the night. Breakfast was very good as was the two dinners we ate at the hotel. The hotel does a large platter made out of wood of meat or fish plus potatoes, salads and vegetables for very reasonable money it tastes good, but if you order individual meals each then the quality of the food is much better even if it is a little bit more expensive. The waiter staff were well presented, polite and efficient. Whatever you asked them they were happy to assist and dealt with requests promptly. The bar staff were at times a bit slower we had to wait 30 mins for a hot chocolate for our daughter to drink before bed, despite me placing the order and questioning twice "where is the hot chocolate". There is a small beach with a roped off swimming area, sadly the roped off area is very small and the water level only comes up to just above ones waist, this does restrict your swimming and enjoyment of the lake. There is no lifeguard at this beach. The roped off area if possible should be extended and this would make swimming more enjoyable. We hired a canoe and went out onto the lake it was fun and great to see the wildlife, you had to pay extra for this, there was also a motorboat you could hire, but we did not fancy listening to the noise of an engine, plus it was not so cheap. There is also a beautiful sauna, steam room and shower that you need to book for free. They were also spotlessly clean and very very hot.
