Elsa's Cottage & Restaurant

When we where in Port Barton we have had our breakfast here. It was very good and the view was more than exceptional.
The restaurant is right on the beach in the middle of the town. Food prices are excellent. Not expensive at all for what you get for it.

We stayed for 10 days so that says it all.No WiFi in the rooms but it's okay.We stayed in a fan room right in front of the beach and it was lovely though they have rooms on the other side with ac.Free breakfast was also a great deal. I saw some reviews saying unfriendly staff but they aren't.I think the right term is shy not unfriendly.The only problem we had is when we booked the van to El Nido we were not given any receipt/tickets but she hired the service to drop us to the terminal so she assured we won't have any problem.We were not told who to talk to when we get there because we supposed it's all set .. luckily the driver rang the owner to ask.When we found the guy they told us we can get in the van but few mins later when it's already full he told us we don't have a ticket and he offered our seats to another people 😭😭 The terminal was a crazy place,crowded and most drivers are not friendly. But overall we had a great stay at Elsa's.Maybe next time we just need to ask for a ticket or phone number in case we get any problem.

Great location, rooms are basic with only the essentials but they’ve got everything you need. The team at Elsa looked after us when we had a medical incident and made sure we where fully looked after, organising medical centre transport and guide.

Amazing to be right on the beach front of Port Barton with a great selection of bars, places to eat and convenience stores within walking distance. The rooms were clean but the shower water was cold and occasionally turned off. Otherwise pleased with the accommodation.

Great location

Restaurant with a view

The AC worked fine but they turn the hot water off in the evening so it was cold showers every night. The other guest here stayed up drinking every night till late so if you are not a party animal you might want to look at other resorts. Turning the power to the hot water off was my major complaint though.  Wifi only worked in the dining area never in the rooms. Price was average for the area.

OK but nothing special

We booked these in advance as we'd found Coron and El Nido to be very busy. Cottage we were given was lovely but as Port Barton was quiet there are probably cheaper options available. Nice room with cold shower and lovely outdoor seating area. Staff were variable and seemed pretty unorganized. Food we ordered was disappointing and advertised WiFi non existent. 

Quite a long way from perfect

Intermittent data is already expected in the island but even on the good days connection is really bad inside the room. Their coffee is just instant and in sachet packs but ridiculously expensive. We were able to buy brewed coffee in a different restaurant at a much cheaper price. In relation to that, go elsewhere for food, even for breakfast.

On the good side, the workers in the premises are courteous, and the lady at the reception who handles the billing and information is friendly and helpful. 

Overall, this place is just okay. They have a/c which is good because not all resorts in Port Barton have rooms with aircon.

Just fine

We went here for lunch on our first day in Port Barton. Unfortunately the service is not great at all - at first it seemed to be going okay when they took our order. But after waiting for 30 minutes they came back and informed us one of the dishes were not available - we have no idea why we were not told about this at the beginning after we ordered but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. I asked how long it would take now that we ordered a new dish and they said it was being cooked now. Another 40 minutes of waiting and the food still hadn’t arrived (this was well over a hour of waiting!). I kindly asked when it would be ready and the waitress rushed off but never came back to me with an answer. We saw another group ask about their food and one of the employees said ‘this isn’t fast food’! I really understand that they cook the food fresh which is great - but please convey the expected waiting time to the guests and communicate with them properly rather than ignoring them. Unfortunately it was a terrible experience and we definitely will not be returning.

Expect to wait 1.5 hours for your food

We had breakfast here. Staff just don't say simple things like good morning, hi or thank you. Very passive attitude towards customers. The food itself is quite simple and a bit expensive. They have a nice view on the beach. But, I. Wouldn't come back here.
