Charing Pension House

Good,  clean large rooms, friendly staff, central location, incredibly cheap food. Common area at the bottom where you can access WiFi, and bring in a beer to drink.
Negative- on a main road with constant noise and hustle and bustle of traffic. No where peaceful to enjoy sitting out when you get back from trips (although they do have some lounge areas, they overlook the road.)

This place was comfortable and clean. 

The breakfast served included 2 eggs with rice and coffee. 

For the money paid, it was a good place to stay at. 

In 2018 It’s very rare to stay in a hotel/motel/guesthouse etc where free wifi is not provided in the rooms. However this hotel needs to catch up to 2018 and provide this essential service to its guests. 



If you are looking for a decent place to stay in Puerto Princessa then I would recommend Charing. We stayed there last August 22, 2017 for a 3 day 2 night vacation. They had a van pick us up from the airport when our flight arrived at 6:30PM. Some of the things I liked about the place are as follows
- Canteen beside the pension house has great home cooked meals. I enjoyed the squid adobo which only costs 40 pesos
-  Free breakfast
-Free transfer to and from airport
- Cable TV 
- Wi-Fi 
- Place has LTE signal for Smart
- Walking distance to the mall (NCCC Mall)
- Located at the heart of the city
Some of the things I didn't like
- Wi-Fi connection is not stable

Room is clean most importantly the bathroom. 
Location is very nice. They have resto and other nearby restaurants.
They have complimentary pick up to and from the airport.
Good value for money.

Downside- wifi cannot reach the rooms

Clean and decent place to stay

The rooms are decorated like circa 1960's-1970's - printed flower bedding, yellow, red, green, brown paints which I don't really mind.
What bothered me and the rest of 9 of my family, was the poor customer service especially the breakfast lady who was rude and made us feel like we are begging to be fed. One might not speak the best English or Tagalog but actions and the way one relates to customers politely are  different things. Also, the food selection has been the same everyday - small longganisa (marinated sausages), tocino (sweet marinated pork), danggit, served without a smile, needless to say without a good morning.
To add insult to the injury, they asked the other guests (who happened to be my aunts) if they knew me and my sisters because we looked mataray (snobs). Can you imagine the staff asking other guests and commenting inappropriately about others guests? How unprofessional is that?
The ambiance was poor too. While having our breakfast, one cat just jumped at the other table attached to where we ate. Someone just shoosh the cat away, and no other words of apology. There was also a dog tied up in the middle of the accommodation and the breakfast area which can be a disturbing sight especially when it barks.
No, I won't stay here again. 

Poor Customer Service

Upon entering our room, we were greeted by a giant roach on our bed. We found another one in the bathroom. When we complained about it, we were told it is typical to find these when you’re staying on the ground floor. The bedsheets and towels look like they need to be donated soon (look like rags) Breakfast was included but after our first, we skipped eating breakfast altogether. I would recommend this place but only to my enemy. So sorry we stayed in this place.
