Doña Mercedes Hostel

Villa de Mercedes is an affordable budget accommodation I had first heard about from Lonely Planet.  It has been around awhile.  It is centrally located 2 blocks south of the Capitol Building, 3 blocks from Cebu Doctors Hospital, and 10 minutes walk to Osmena Circle and Robinsons Supermarket.  There are inexpensive places to eat nearby to suit every budget. There are jeepneys going to Ayala Mall ifor those who want upscale shopping and dining. The bars and clubs on Mango Avenue are also minutes away.  The rooms are roomy, simple and basic and have aircon. They let me use the kitchen to warm up my Pancit Canton and store my milk in the fridge.  Most pensiones in Cebu do not allow guests to use their kitchen or fridge.

I have stayed many times at Villa de Mercedes pensione house and I like the place very much. And it is located at a safe place in Cebu. It's only walking  distance to Robinsons Fuente shopping mall (6-7 min)  If you want to go to Ayala shopping mall  is it 15 20 min to walk. If you want to use jeepney it's only 5 min and cost only P8
I always use to stay here if I am in Cebu. Villa de Mercedes have also very friendly staff. This pensione house have rooms with aircon, fridge to keep food and drink cold and the rooms are big.  It is also wi-fi in the reseption, sometimes it's coverage on the 2nd floor as well. If I should say anything negative, it is a lot of noise from outside, egg sellers, motorbikes etc..
Anyway a great place to stay.

Not fancy, but clean, good aircon, good size fridge, friendly staff, and good location

Good place to stay if your on a budget

I booked my room four days in advance. When I came there they told me they don't have a room. A couple just left the hotel due to loud noise from construction work in the hotel, so I asked if I couldn't get their room. I asked three times if they're sure not having a room. Finally I got a room. The stuff was very unfriendly and didn't care at all that I booked already days in advance. I couldn't stay somewhere else, cause everything was fully booked or too expensive. The room was dirty, had to ask for new bed sheets, cause I didn't want to sleep in the hairs of the guest before. Had to ask for fixing the shower because water was running  all the time. After one and a half hour I had the room. Didn't even get a discount. Oh, and the "terrace" is just a small balcony 

Wouldn't go there again

I traveled in Cebu, 'twas sinulog that time. Me and my boyfriend stayed here,  not so clean(and when I say not so clean I meant dirty!) and not so friendly staff! 'twas not so great accommodation for me, not great for a place to stay!
