Cabilao Sunset Dive & Beach Resort

Beautiful property and a wonderful view of the sunset over Cebu Island. Good snorkeling area during high tide. Excellent restaurant with decent portions. Lots of beautiful plants and views. Family like friendliness.

Although me and my boyfriend didn't actually stay at this resort, I am writing this review because David and Clara are the loveliest of people and they really made our stay in Cabilao amazing. 

We stayed at a resort during low season which was just a 2-minute walk away from La Estrella, but when we got there we learned that there were no PADI dive instructors able to accommodate Ryans PADI OW course which he so desperately wanted to do. After taking a walk down the beach we came across La Estrella beach resort where David and Clara welcomed us with open arms. 

The diving in this area is the best I have seen, and Ryan is so lucky to have been able to complete his OW in such an amazing place. On our first dive alone, we saw 3 turtles gliding over the reef. The macro marine life is the highlight of the dive sites here, and David and Clara were very professional in taking us to the best places to find them.

We visited La Estrella during low season and have beed the only guests. We got pampered from the attentive staff during the week of our stay. La Estrella is a small and nice dive resort, Our Bungalow was very nice and the food good and plenty.

I can not judge the dive center as the actual center was closed. We dived with a local guide called Roy which was excellent. For us this was perfect as I am a dive master myself and an underwater photographer. Roy took excellent care of our needs. 

Please be aware, that when you visit Cabilao, you'll get excellent diving and friendly people. Nightlife, other restaurants or bars are not available.

On occasion we would definitely go back to la Estrella.

From the time we set foot on this magical resort, it was wonderful. We stayed in the hobbit house #2 upstairs and it was beyond beautiful.  We had one night of a torrential thunderstorm and stayed nice and dry and watched the show. The food is magnificent and the diving instructors Mic and Vicky were funny, interesting and showed us all on what to do and look for. As for the dive, words can NOT express the beauty. The staff were polite and efficient and the sunsets are to die for. I would highly recommend this resort for anyone wanting to relax and escape the rat race and stress. Nice resort which was wonderful years ago. Now it has a beautiful backyard with nice “Hobbit-Houses” and good rooms. The beds are good, sleeping comfort is good, it´s very quiet, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant provides good food, it´s nice to eat there. The owner, Estrella, is very nice and charming person. The dive gear is very old and in terrible condition. I only was diving with Estrella, because I had one personal dive guide only for me. Diving I cannot recommend here. Also Estrella told me, that I am the last guest because she want to close the resort for guests. For the last 3 days I was the only guest so it was very very quiet. My conclusion: nice rooms, charming owner, not good for diving.

La Estrella is a small dive resort with 6 rooms, the Island of Cabilao is peaceful is it is not heavily developed and only accessible by boat. Mick and Vicky who run Estrella are a British couple who are focused on making your trip perfect The Diving was professionally organized and the dive site are not crowded, we hardly saw other divers. Mick is an instructor so can offer Padi training.  If you are looking for peaceful get away you should consider staying here, 
They have a restaurant serving home cooking but being a small island the choices are limited, but some great fresh fish
