Hotel Casa Dali

It is a friendly place and a excellent choice in Lima.  Rooms are clean,  the area is peaceful,  and Esperanza is the most friendly staff you may find. Complimentary breakfast was good  a Orange Juice, unlimited coffee, a bagel and  fruit, which was more than adequate. Overall above average hotel for the money they charge. It is not a luxury hotel however I am sure it  enriched  my stay at Lima.

Carla Sofia and her staff are everything you want, or need, when you are away from home.  This is NOT the Marriott nor the Hyatt, but it is everything I look for when I travel(Friendly - Reasonable Cost - Clean).  Carla can have you picked up at the airport and delivered to her front door.  Taxis are the way to get around in Lima, but make sure it is a SAFE one(check with Dali staff).  The Casa Dali is in San Borja, a safe area of Lima.  We walk to local restaurants, church, museum, even to the new theater next to the museum.  A low cost taxi ride will take you to the Plaza de Armas, Cathedral, Convent de Santo Domingo or many other Lima attractions.  Get the taxi telephone number to call when you are ready to return to the Dali.  A simple breakfast with GREAT coffee is available in the morning.   Carla will also be happy to help you with arrangements for visits to other areas of interest in Peru.

Friendly, Reasonable, Clean

When you think of the name Dali what images does it conjure up? Right forget all of them!
I stayed at Casa Dali twice recently (booked by the charity I was working for in Peru) so had two chances to form a view, and sadly the second was as uninspiring as the first.

Let me start by saying that there's nothing hideously wrong with Casa Dali, its clean (enough), its well maintained (enough) and all the staff I met were really quite helpful and friendly. 

That said there were numerous things that just felt a little "sad" about the place, including (but not limited to):
Poor WiFi; they run various wifi signals that intermittently cut in and out. Expect issues here.
No signage outside to even tell you its hotel / guesthouse. One has to ask why?
Spartan rooms; uninspiring furniture and decor throughout.
Modest shower with a modest supply of water to it.
No Fridge
No Minibar
No heating / AC controls
Old style TV.
Drab views
Breakfast: a really simple selection of fruit / bread / ham / cheese etc. in a canteen that would have looked in keeping with a set from Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy...

So, perhaps for the money it'll do you ok, its certainly not a dangerous fleapit, but it might well be worth shopping around before you plump for the Dali.
