Except staff and location nothing is good at this hotel.I did not like that they charged me penalty for going to a different hotel after having such a bad experience.

If you considering chosing this hotel the answer is simple, don't.1. Hot water rarely worked2. No heating3. Portable heater provided then at checkout try to bill you for it4. Power to portable heater socket strangely stopped working despite other power working5. Room stunk of dampness and walls damp6. They watch what you do like a hawk7. At checkout they get agro and try charge you for whatever they canI don't really have anything positive I can say. Its a hotel, ok not fancy but a hotel not a hostel. Accordingly it should be much better.There seemed to be much better options in Cusco. Even if this is a bit cheaper don't stay here, you'll be regretting it like I did. Better elsewhere even if you have to pay a little more its better than regretting what you have paid for considering the points above.

We had a great time at Amanecer en el Sol.  Breakfast is provided.  It is clean.  It can get cold at night in wintertime, but you can rent a heater there.  The water is hot and showers feel great.  There is a place about a block away where you can do laundry.  And you are right in the downtown area and you feel safe.

Great family hotel

All the desk clerks spoke English.  The hotel is 1 block East and 2 blocks South of the Plaza de Armas, which is the center of everything in Cuzco.  All the other guests were Peruvians on vacation, and quite cordial.  The room was clean, the water hot, and the included breakfast hit the spot.  I felt secure on the streets around the hotel after dark, but i mostly crashed after supper to recover from the treks to Incan ruins at 1100 ft altitude.
I think I paid about $15/night - which is cheaper that a hostel and much more comfortable and private.

Lodge conveniently & securely - like a middle-class family from Peru

Having stayed at Amanecer en el Sol before, I booked it again for my family's one night in Cusco. It's a simple, but nice hotel, and has all that travelers need : comfy beds & hot water! There are TVs in the rooms, wifi, water for sale in the lobby, and even tea for 1 sol if you want something warm to drink. It's a few blocks from the plaza, and located in a good area for restaurants. I have never had any problems with this hotel, and recommend it to travelers who want a simple place to stay at an affordable price.

Simple Hotel, Comfy Beds

Very nice situation but the worst hotel that I had during my trip in Peru. Cold, dirty, spots in the towels, noisy, terrible service. Bad breakfast, the bread was old and everything was dirty. You had better to stay in a hostel. They class it 3 stars I would not give a half star.

The worst hotel of my Peru trip

The hotel is on a small street called San Andreas about a 10 minute walk to the main square.  And while the front desk was very helpful and accommodating the rooms are basic, almost threadbare.  Altough for $30USD it was a good value.  My first room only had windows that opened up into the hallway and no dresser or closet. I changed rooms to one that did have windows that opened up to the outside.  Breakfast service was slow and consisted of OJ, coffee, and toast with jam.  At least the shower was hot and the TV had lots of english channels.
