Casa Sucre was the most perfect hub for our introduction to Panama! Rich and Alyce were so friendly, attentive and helpful that we truly felt like we'd gained new friends. Casco Viejo is beautiful- but Alyce warned us that it does get loud at night. She provided earplugs and was concerned it would bother us, but I must say that from our downstairs apartment, the noise wasn't a problem: the bedroom is at the back of the building and opens to the inside courtyard, nicely separated from the party noise outside. We slept so well! Daily breakfast in the cafe was always delicious and Oh! that Panama coffee!!! Shanny, in the cafe, was awesome and made us feel like family! Ironically by the end of our trip, the panic over coronavirus was imposing restrictions, but when life gets back to normal, we anticipate returning some day. BTW, Alyce, if you're reading this, our cruise was canceled the day before we were to board, so we never did get on the cruise ship. Keep the coffee hot! We'll be back!

Great place to stay in Casco Viejo!

Our stay was magnificent! We stayed in a clean, lovely, well appointed apartment  with everything you could need for a comfortable stay.  The hotel is located in the heart of the historic Casco Viejo.  The owners Rich and Alyce are friendly and welcoming.  Eating in their cafe is a must.  Wonderful coffee, and a nice assortment of food for breakfast and lunch.  Try the quiche made fresh daily by the owner! What a gem. 
Panama is a wonderful place to visit. So much to see from the canal, to the Indian Village, Bio Museum.  Wonderful restaurants and above all friendly people. If you enjoy the outdoors and visiting different cultures, Panama is a great place to visit.

Beautiful Restored Building

We stayed at Casa Sucre for four nights last week and really appreciated the warm reception from Alicia,Richard and Jonny. The hotel captures the atmosphere of the old town in a central location close to numerous restaurants and historic buildings. The coffee shop provides an excellent breakfast and great coffee, the bedrooms are very comfortable and the owners are happy to share their local knowledge. The local area is vibrant into the small hours but this is all part of the experience. Highly recommended.

We had a small room on the upper floor (steps).  + Fridge and microwave, corner balcony overlooking an active intersection (great place to sit and have an evening drink) A shared living room added space.  Great location. Needed to wear the provided earplugs on Sunday night. Other nights were quieter.
Great Breakfast selections included at their Coffee Shop on the corner. 
Owner Alyce makes it all happen!  An American transplant, she connected us with airport rides and personal tours.  
Our Room was a “3” because of the noise, and double bed size, but  loved the balcony.  Still a highly recommended place to stay. There are other rooms and apartments here you might want to consider.

Service: Welcoming and Friendly!

Rooms: Charming and comfortable. We were upgraded to a small apartment at no additional cost but either way the property is interesting. 

Location: This is in the heart of Casco Viejo and is the perfect location for the entire area. The area is very loud at night and we were provided ear plugs which, for us, was totally unnecessary but appreciated. 

Cafe: great coffee, the lunch sandwiches are amazing and the breakfast was good.

Stay Here!

My rating is less based on the staff and hotel...they were all wonderful!  It is about the location general. We thought staying in old town would be fun, it was with great walkability, coffee, desserts and restaurants.  However, BEWARE, it is so loud at night, the bass from local rooftop bars was going until 4 am, like feel it in your bones and the walls shake bass.  Earpulgs provided but they did nothing to take the bass away.  It was awful Fri and Sat, ok on Sun and then the locals picked it up on Monday.  The coffee shop coffee was excellent and necessary to make it through the day.  If you are up for partying this is the place for you, if you are a family with young kids maybe stay somewhere else.

Great staff, no sleep

The hospitality at this little hotel is above and beyond. American owned by 2 lovely hosts. We had many requests, all of which were met graciously. On our first night we were quite disturbed by loud music and were moved to a different, quiet apartment. The location is perfect for access to Casco Viejo and many good restaurants. I will say there is some noise, but you would have this at any centrally located hotel due to the nature of the area. Breakfast is delicious with ample portions and is served at the coffee shop next door by the lovely Yamila. The building is historic and has a classic old Panamian feel. Overall I was very pleased with this choice.

Great hospitality in central location

This was a perfect location for site seeing in Casco Viejo. We were upgraded from a room to an apartment which was a very nice surprise and offered a quieter night of sleep. We enjoyed reading in the quiet courtyard that our apartment opened on to and offered a getaway from the hustle and bustle.

Perfect Location

Alyce and her team at Casa Sucre went above and beyond their requirements to make our short visit pleasurable.
They arranged airport pick up and drop off without a hitch, even if we got a tour of some of the non tourist areas to bypass Independence Day celebrations.
Alyce upgraded our room because she felt the room we had booked was too small. The apartment was wonderful and quiet. Earplugs not required to drown out celebrations all around.
She arranged supper reservations on the first night when restaurants were full of locals celebrating the holidays.
Breakfast was excellent next door at the cafe.
Alyce then said we were not to worry about check out times and plan our getaway to the flight times.
A wonderful short visit and we will be back

Above and Beyond

Casa Sucre Boutique Hotel became my home away from home! I highly recommend it for your Panama stay!  Do not hesitate!
The owners and staff make you feel right at home!  They all go above and beyond the line of duty to make your stay pleasant!
The unit was super clean with a great air conditioning unit.  Casa Sucre is excellently located! You can walk everywhere and is very close to the Presidential offices; therefore, there are guards everywhere!
The breakfast was included and it was outstanding, right at their coffee house! Yamila, Maria, Shanny and Luis are part of the staff and they became my family away from home...soooo caring and helpful!!
Will make sure to stay at Sucre Boutique Hotel whenever I visit Panama again!!
