It's a wonder this place is still open. We aren't fussy about our rooms at all - we only need a clean bed and some security. This place did not deliver.

We stayed out of desperation as all other hostels in Casco Viejo were fully booked. In retrospect, we should have stayed outside of the old town (we moved to a great place called Casa Oasis for our second night - much better!). I had a cursory glance at the room before agreeing to take it. What was I thinking? I said we'd take the room and when I went back in I immediately regretted it. Our room was a windowless en suite double, with a mattress that was so old I spent the night fighting against rolling into the middle of it. There were hairs on the sheets, the floor was dirty and there were plasters floating in the shower. 

We were also told off for trying to leave the hotel with our key. I only speak a little Spanish and couldn't understand why, but that rule seemed very unnecessary and unwelcome. It doesn't fill you with confidence about security either!

I try to leave balanced reviews, but I can't think of anything positive. Don't do it to yourself - go elsewhere. Thinking about that night gives me the creeps, and I've stayed in some pretty weird places!!! If I could score this with 0 stars, I would!

NEVER make the mistake we did

So we arrived in Panama without accommodation and ended up here. Stayed in a 3 share room. The room basically just had a bunk bed and double shoved into the space that was available which wasn't a big deal. The bunk beds had no real
Pillows or sheets and the room was a little dirty. Smelt horrible but that could have been some of our clothes coming off 5 days sailing so can't judge. Lot of water on the floors in the hallways after it rained and Internet only works in the lobby.

THE BEST BIT:
So side note here at about 7:30am the door to our room opens (should have locked it) and in walks a women who was off chops. She proceeds to decide that she likes my mate, pulls out a condom and tries to convince him to have sex. All credit to him for a man just waking up he managed to talk his way out of it and get rid of her before locking the door. We later discovered there is a nightclub on the first floor which still had other people come out of it until about 8:30am.

So in summary, wouldn't stay again but funny story.

Well that was weird 

Paid to stay here before checking the rooms - big mistake. The reception is deceiving and not representative of the horrors of the upper floors. Out of 18 months of full time travel, this is the worst place we have nearly stayed. Despite our usual "put up and get on with it" attitude, we just could not stomach this place and ended up paying for a room elsewhere. Absolutely filthy, vom-inducing bathrooms and stinking hovel bedrooms under a tin can roof. Needless to say, when we informed reception of my decision, we did not receive even partial recompense. Shame on Luna's Castle for recommending this slum to anybody. Casco Viejo has some lovely places to stay and this is a blot on the landscape. We should have turned back when seeing a dead rat in the road immediately outside- even the rats couldn't survive this place.

AWFUL DUMP

Just the worst place I have ever been. The service is poor; the rooms look like the worst pension. The girl at the reception is not professional at all. They just try to take adventage of being on Casco Viejo, close to Luna Castle, that is normally occuped. Not recomended.

The worst of Panamá 

We stayed at a private room. The room had a very good a/c, decent private shower and toilets and nice bad.
The staff was very friendly.
The wifi did not work.
We paid 30$ for the room and felt it was worth the price.
