My girlfriend and I have stayed at a number of B&Bs around the world and this was undoubtedly one of the best. First and foremost, the host, Marijke, is wonderful. Incredibly welcoming and willing to share whatever knowledge she can. In one case, when we were driving back to Panama City from El Valle, she even e-mailed us as a courtesy to let us know that Carnival was ending and that there may be heavy traffic! Exactly the sort of personal touch that you miss out on by staying at a big hotel.The B&B itself is exceptionally clean, safe, centrally located for tourists in a great residential area and the breakfast is delicious. Highly recommend!

Our family of four stayed four days in this great small B&B tucked away in a quiet residential neighbourhood bordering a tropical forest late December.  The two connecting rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and bug-free.  The location is convenient for reaching Casco Viejo, Amador Causeway, Albrook airport and for exploring the canal zone (A 2-minute walk leads to a thorough-fare with lots of cabs), so no need to rent a car.   The owner family were great.   They were accommodating, and helped us with a lot of travel INFO and recommendations.    Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and served even if we had to leave early for a couple trips.  Nothing beats hanging out in their yard watching Agoutis and Toucans, while being able to reach great restaurants and sights within 10 minutes.

Have just had 2 nights here after a 24 hr journey. The accommodation is everything they say it is. Lovely hosts and cute kids. And the animals/birds in the back garden are regular visitors. Recommended. Easy to get taxi to and from the old city and canals. 

We had a lovely stay at Balboa Heights in March. Perfect place to stay both ways on our overnight layover between flying into Tocumen and leaving from Albrook the next day. They have a great location close to Casco Viejo, but in a lovely neighborhood away from all the noise and crowd. Marijke was very helpful with our trip, providing helpful travel advice and coordination with taxi pick-ups. We also loved seeing the toucans and the monkeys in the back yard. The only thing to note is that there is a shared bathroom. Not an issue for us as we were the only people there, but is something to know going into it. We would highly recommend it!

Great Panama City B&B

Great quiet retreat

Great Lay-over Stay

The rooms were quite clean, nice bathroom with only a small shower. Beds are basic, not terribly hard, but not as good as the quality of an American style basic hotel. The AC is cool and the location is very quiet and safe. If you want to go towards Clayton or City of Knowledge, traffic is a bit heavier than some other locations to get out and see the sites. The price was really great at $40 per night, but do yourself a favor and eat breakfast elsewhere. Very bland and basic. I would stay here again if looking for a budget location. Be careful to check out on time (11am) because even 30 min late will cost you 50% of the daily rate. It is not anything special, but safe, quiet, clean, & cool.
