After an arduous bus ride along winding mountain roads this hotel is aptly Shangrila. Picture perfect views of the amazing mountains set by a lake. Again Pakistani hospitality second to none. Rooms large and bright. Good food at restaurant and coffee shop. Optional boating experience on lake

Paradise on earth

Horrible place ! Smells like a latrine ! One star is even a very high score for this place. Rooms are deplorable . I made sure i zipped luggages for fear of bugs. Could not wait to get out of the place . Place needs 100 % renovations ! Stay away from this place. No, no, no, no , no !! ( to rate this place as Terrible is an understatement)  This is an old local resort and not part of the Shangri-La chain of hotels and resorts. Which explains the horribleness.

recently stayed at shangrila skardu and the experience left me thoroughly disappointed. The rooms were not only overpriced but also quite pathetic. The exorbitant rates did not match the quality or comfort provided. The swiss view room which they charged 50k pkr for was cramped, poorly maintained, and lacked basic amenities. The bathroom was missing tiles, the furniture was very poor and the floor tiles had stains. The food which they claim to be the best in gilgit baltistan is extremely overpriced and also made me sick. overall experience was far from what I expected for the price I paid. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Terrible experience

Looks good on arrival, but rooms are poorly maintained, unclean and smell terrible. We were unable to use one of the bathrooms because of the stench. 
Pagoda restaurant was closed in the evening, which is a highlight of the resort

Poor value for money

Overpriced and underwhelming is the best way to describe this hotel. We landed in Skardu after suffering many flight delays and were looking forward to relaxing at the Shangrila. 
It took more than 30 minutes to check in as none of their cars machines were working. 
We were then taken to room 216 and it smelled like a skunk had just died there. 
We were then moved to room 222 where it is impossible to make tea using equipment provided by the hotel. You have to get under the TV trolley to get to the the tea kettle, then plug it into the outlet and then take it out again once water is boiled. Bend down again to retrieve a tea cup from underneath the trolley to make the tea without burning yourself. I am sure they are breaking many safety codes. We complained 4 times and each time we were informed the problem is fixed only to find out it is still the same. They then provided us with a power outlet which started shouting sparks when we tried to boil the water. 6 hours and counting since I checked into the hotel wanting to relax with a cup of tea which somehow seems more difficult than climbing Everest!!
Rooms are also dated with no refrigerator and we have yet to test the television. 

Although staff are willing to help there is incompetency galore.
I wonder when exactly did the owners visit this resort - they should try to stay in rooms 216 or 222.

Disappointing start to a memorable holiday

I was surprised to see so many negative comments on this hotel because we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We had a large room with an enormous bathroom . There was not a kettle in the room but we requested one which was quickly delivered to our room. 
The views and gardens are magnificent and we were even offered a free boat trip on the lake. 
As the resort  was not busy the main restaurant was closed but we had lunch, dinner and breakfast in the lakeside restaurant.
I think my wife and I were the only European guests and we got lots of " selfie" requests from the other guests. 

Beautiful location and satisfactory accommodation.

No doubt the location is nice but the rooms are not maintained if you compare the room rent they are charging. the facility was not upgraded since long. Additional charges of mattress for kids further buildup the cost. Not recommended at this price

Not value of money

We stayed in Shangrila resort Skardu for five days from 21  to 27 April and it was an amazing experience. The views were mesmerizing with the villa overlooking lower  Kachura lake  and snow covered mountains in the background. The staff was friendly and co-operative with adequate facilities in the villa. The Pagora restaurant had delicious food and breakfast. The room service was a bit average whereby we had to call for everything.  Overall it was a great experience and our family enjoyed thoroughly

Had a great Experience in middle of the mountains 

A resort full of sceneries and architecture. The ambiance is eye catching.
I stayed at Shangrila Resort Skardu on 10 September and it was worth experience. We were staying in deluxe room and it was nice with a good view of Lake.
