Mutrah central location is great for the touristic activities. For the remote Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the reception was helpful in arranging a taxi. As the other review wrote, basement bar noise continued around 4 a.m. though I was on the 4th floor and the noise might have been bearable somehow. The reception seemed not familiar to the Expedia pre-payment arrangement. So, you may be better to have your Expedia booking confirmation handy. Hot shower needed more than 5 minutes to come out. I was close to bear with cold showers. So, you might have to get yourself prepared, accordingly.

Nice stay ..food is good staff are friendly nice environment.felling very relaxing to stay in front of river mountain...My first visit in Muscat.very come and quite plsve.love it peaceful pleasant awesome

In a city where alcohol is limited this licensed restaurant is a good find. It's a bit shabby but the view of the corniche is unbeatable. Madhav is a true hospitality professional. The terrace has a fabulous outlook

Shabby Hotel. If the restaurant hadn't been recommended in the lonely planet guide book. Authentic, seriously old fashioned, in need of a revamp but the food was nice. Good choice on the menu. Reasonable prices. Central location. 

Restaurant review 

I stayed here for a short trip to Muscat and whilst the hotel is adequate and well located, it is definitely a case of get what you pay for. The room was clean enough although furniture was a little old and TV did not work but that was no problem for me as I spent little time in the room anyway. The check in process was poor, I had to wait a while for staff to even realise I was there and when they did they didn't want to take my money that I owed them. Took three attempts for them to allow me to settle with them which was strange.
The rooftop restaurant is excellent and well priced with great views of the harbour. Overall a good enough hotel for a short stay.

Average Hotel but Good Views from Restaurant

Latin arrival.  First visit to Oman.  All staff were wonderful ( bar the member on duty when I arrived.). Done a lot of travel  over 160 countries so reasonable expectations.  Not great feeling when weary and solo.... Great location for Old Muscat . Safe and walkable.

Friendly Modest and recommend

We stayed for one night on our arrival in Oman to check out the markets. The location is fantastic, close walking distance to the souk and local restaurants. Staff was helpful and friendly at check in. Overall the room was dated and slightly dingy but reasonably clean and comfortable. The AC blew cold air, the wifi was good, and the shower was hot... that’s all we were looking for. The music downstairs was not unbearably loud and did not run too late into the night. We would definitely go back.

Great Location

Music playing most of the night, not the place with family stay

Excellent location. Helpful staff. Good food. Service a bit haphazard. Great view from the room & terrace restaurant. But rooms are shabby and not very clean. Overall the positives outweigh the negatives.

The game lace is a bit grim and needs a significant makeover but you get what you pay for and we paid for a room to store our bags while we explored the local area, shower and get a late taxi for the airport
