Lerkekåsa Vingård og Galleri as

Lerkekåsa is a small winery iin Norway (if you can believe it). They have 4 places to stay here; one cabin and 3 winebarrels (!!!). Me and my wife stayed in one of the winebarrels and found it to be an unique experience that I can recommend with all my heart. Now, the barrels aren't spacious. You have half a meter from the door to the bed, but you really don't need anymore. We are not the most mobile of the human species and it worked out fine for us. The toilets and showers are in the main building/barn (that is changes into a big dining room with a bar). Their fruitwines are delicious. Fruits grow easily in Norway, but wines made of grape (red, white and rose) are more difficult. Now, their rose and white where good. I liked them. The red whine was very young. For me it was interesting to try it because I believe that it will be perfected in the years to come. I also hope that they can up the production to a level that they can sell it wholesale and store the wine in barrels for some amount of years. In my belief, if they continue what they are doing we will have our first really good red wine from Norway in 7-10 years. Back to the present. The service the couple that live there provides is fantastic. They are welcoming and have a warm home. And with the few beddings they have it makes for a intimate experience with winetastings, tour of the area, dinner and breakfast. I highly recommend to stay in a winebarrel if you have the chance, and I am sure it will be an experience you won't forget.
