Centrally located if you’re driving through Østerdalen and need a place to stop for the night 

The receptionist we met were nice and friendly and all smiles 

Decent, spacious cabin with two bedrooms for four people, a large living room and newly upgraded kitchen 

The beds were good, probably quite new mattresses 

The cabin was clean (self wash is standard) but the bathroom needs some attention even though it works to purpose

Nice for short stopovers

Came to this campsite to use the "excellent" facilities - laundry and internet.  Sadly both are lacking,  The washing machine works but the tumble dryer is broken. The internet is poor at best and only operates on 5Mhz which doesn't give it the best coverage. Unable to sit out because of the smell.  Don't know what it is, but it stinks - like a pig farm. 
Sites for motorhomes aren't level - ramps needed. Can't recommend this site.  We have stayed on much better in Norway.   If we had realised the lack of internet and tumble dryer before handing over the cash we would of moved on or camped rough.

Looking for a chilled campsite, this isn't it

Coming to Tynset we headed for Tynset Rom & Camping to stay the night.
Ok camping, not the spactacular wiev but ok, it is close to a river and fishing seemed to be good. Clean and tidy, breakfast was good and fresh. Quiet during the night too.
The space for the Camper were big enough, it was eary in the season so it was only a few campers, Cottages for rent seems be be ok and well maintained.
Will come back.

Tynset, the home of the kicksledge.

I’ve travelled this part of Norway for years, though missed Tynset Rom & Camping, but just loves it. I stumpled upon this place because a hotel I’ve stayed before, Savalen Hotel and Spa, was closed weekdays, this time of year (december) but their receptionist recommended Tynset Rom & Camping. The designer of Tynset Rom & Camping must have been a travelling business man/woman– you get as many electrical outlets as you want. 8 not telling the bathroom. Muy importante for people like me ….  for us needing to load pc’s, ipads, smartphones, speakers, headsets, camera, ekstra power sources etc, and electric outlets were placed just there you want them. So the designer really understood my need as consultant, visiting my customers. Thank you Tynset Rom & Camping. You get 5 out of 5 from me.

This Hotel/Motel is situated at important crossroads between Oslo and Trondheim. There are many alternatives, but my favorites, not the shortest though, driving Oslo - Trondheim and back, or opposite direction, is to drive along the Lake of Mjøsa, Gudbrandsdal valley, changing road at Ringebu to Venabygd, but turning north as soon as you see the sign of Folldal, now you drive back side of mighty Rondane mountain (search Rondande and Harald Sohlberg, the famous Norwegian painter 1865 - 1935, and you'll understand why you have to go here), Arriving Folldal you're close to Tynset. After a good nights sleep than drive back to Dovre, through Oppdal and other gorgeous valleys to Trondheim. Going back from Trondheim, choose the road to Røros ( a marvellous mountain town on Unesco Heritage List – don’t miss it, stay at least 1 night here, see pictures and videos of Røros on internet), than drive to Os, than on to Narjordet and Drevsjø, through amazing mauntain and lake areas, lush and green valleys, south to Trysil, and back Oslo.

It's a small cottage with a window, a table, two chairs and a two-story bed without bedding (clothes and pillows are available, the quality is like in a Soviet pioneer camp). The bedding is for an extra fee. There's no Internet, the idea was to be at the reception, but there's no one there either. The toilet and shower are common, i.e. for conveniences you have to go to a special building. There's a cottage called a kitchen there you can even get something to warm up and get some drinking water. The cottage has to be delivered clean, there's an announcement on the wall that the cleaning fee depends on the degree of pollution.
