Being from the states, we didn't even think about booking a campground in winter. However the hotel in town was closing at Christmas and they told us to contact the campground. We had a lovely cottage, and it overlooked the little lake. The staff was super helpful explaining everything to us before (and during) the trip. The only downside is that it is a ways from town and we did need a car to get there.
