Amazing stay at one of a kind property. We visited Norway for over two weeks, stayed at 7 different hotels and this was our favorite hotel we stayed at.  The recent renovation was excellent but kept the “old” feel of the hotel perfecty. Make sure to play billards in the basement.

Favorite Hotel in all of Norway

It was wonderful! Have no word to explain how much we love this place! For sure we will come back ! We want to try more of the activities around and enjoy the calm atmosphere from 1891 .  Best regards from me and my wife .

Worlds best hidden diamond 💎

Amazing place to stay for a romantic couple. The rooms are one of the kind, and VERY clean. The staff is very attentive, and gives the best service. The restaurant serves amongst the best meals I have had at restaurants in Norway, even if the menu is small. The local ingredients really get the attention they deserve.

Perfect place for a couple

Absolutely stunning. Created a warm and historic atmosphere.  The location between high and steep mountains framed the hotel nicely. The rooms named after mountaineers and famous people are nice and again creates a historic setting. Highly recommendable. 

Refined luxury

The history of this hotel, is most unique and intriguing.  I’ve met some of the kindest, most compelling storytellers…all in this beautiful historical place.  This is cozy Norwegian hospitality at its best.  The chef prepared a dinner meal that was more than 5 stars!  Be prepared for an elegant and heartfelt visit.

Norway Splendor

Our family had an amazing stay here at the beginning of October. Maya, Rune, and the whole staff took excellent care of us, went above and beyond, and were extremely accommodating. We were traveling with our 5 mo old daughter which can always add a level of stress to travel but the Hotel Union Oye team made it an amazing experience. We will certainly want to return one day.

Beautiful Hotel with Great Service

This is an amazing experience. After hiking Slogen I checked in with my two daughters in the king Oscar room. Really enjoyed the welcoming with a personal introduction to the hotel and room. Very nice room and comfortable beds, nice sitting area, all authentic and historical furnished. 
The hotel has many nice, quiet and comfortable areas to relax in or enjoy a drink. The meal in the evening was amazing, excellent service topped off with a very interesting storytelling of the history of the hotel.  The breakfast was equally excellent. They really do a lot to make your stay an amazing experience. I will definitely return.

Magnificent Hotel - A must if visiting Norway

Family trip to hike the mountains around Hjorrund fjord. Hiked to Slogen and then the “Urke egga” Stayed at the hotel, excellent welcoming giving a thorough introduction to the hotel and accommodation. Really nice rooms with very comfortable beds. They have really kept the historic atmosphere. Nice lounge, library and more to relax in. Friendly staff and a wonderful meal in the evening, topped off with a really good story about the history of the hotel.  Breakfast was equally excellent. I have traveled in many places around the world but must admit that with the scenery combined with options of mountain hiking and excellent and extremely comfortable accommodation, this is one of the best stays I have had. If ever at Sunnmore, visiting Union Oye is a must!

Amazing experience!

We stayed at Hotel Union Oye for three nights, and it was an amazing experience. The setting is truly one of the best in the world; the service was exceptional; and the food was excellent (as expected from a Relais & Chateaux property). 

The setting: The hotel is set at the end of a fjord in Norway with views directly from the dining room. The fjord begins about 200 meters from the hotel offering kayaking, boat cruises, bike paths, and a range of other activities such as hiking literally at your doorstep. The views from the hotel rooms are amazing as you are surrounded by spectacular scenery that cannot be fully captured in a photo. We stayed in a king suite that was perhaps ~75 square meters (~800 square feet) and included a sprawling living room and two balconies. (If you can avoid staying on the ground floor, you will have a lot more privacy.) 

The service: Service was exemplary from the booking to pre-planning activities to food and beverage at the hotel. The staff achieved a perfect balance of passion, professionalism, and friendliness at all times. A unique feature that we did not get to use is the “Gin and tonic” button in the restroom in case you find yourself craving a cocktail. You flip the switch and a G&T is delivered straight away. 

The food: We asked that dinner be included in our room rate and enjoyed the three course meal each evening (along with breakfast which was included in the rate). The hotel offers an a la carte lunch service, but most guests appear to opt for the packed lunch to take with them for outdoor activities during the day. 

Overall, we loved our stay and look forward to visiting again. On the last night at the hotel, we discovered a newly added game room with a snooker table. The hotel also is planning to add a sauna in the near future which will be a great addition during the colder months of the year. If you are traveling to Norway, don’t miss this special hotel.

Amazing Experience Amidst Spectacular Scenery Alongside a Norwegian Fjord

This is clearly one of the most spectacularly settings for a hotel in Norwwy. Our problem was that we came here from Walaker Hotel in Solvorn, Sogn, which has a similarly spectacular setting, but an Authentic, 10-generation family tradition of managing the property - a great dinner included in the (high) price. Union is our second choice…
