Me and my girlfriend had a weekend here, Friday to Sunday. When I was booking the room, I already noticed that the price was a bit steep, but hey, it`s Norway. 

On arrival, everything seemed OK, until we where "greeted" by the hotel staff. The receptionist seemed like she was truly bored of her job. Barely even recognizing us when we arrived. The little of information that was given to us was wrong. For example that the restaurant was open until 22, it was open until 21. 
When we got to the room itself, the room was quite old. Seems like it has been the same since it was built. There was no fridge and the bathroom was run down. The only thing that was positive with the room, was the view. That was amazing. But the standard of the room was sub par with regards to the price of the room. 

Dinner time was an event of itself. The staff seemed like they where ready to kick us out as soon as we step foot in the restaurant. For dinner, you have 3 choices, 2 fish and 1 meat. All where overpriced. I mean, 300 NOK for a piece of fish and some potatoes, that is too much, even for Norway. 
The really sad thing is that since this is a really small place, you have only one other option of where to eat, that option is a strange mix of Thai and burgers. And they close at 20:00, every day. You can of course by some food at the local food store, but you have no place to prepare it. 

The spa was a bit run down, but it was OK. The water was nice and warm, and the view was amazing from the pool. My girlfriend had a treatment at the spa, and she was satisfied. 

So to sum up. this place has a great potential. It is located in a picturesque location with great hiking opportunities. But the hotel needs to do something about their staff and general quality if they are to continue charging the price they are currently charging. The only person that said hello to us, was the maid. And that was when we had checked out and where leaving.

Overpriced

Charming hotel on the fjord with a spa with swimming pool, sauna, hammam and massage room. All rooms have a view of the fjord. Ideal for a stay to relax and enjoy the quiet surroundings. Attention on Sunday evening the restaurant closes at 4pm and the only restaurant in the city after that time will be the Asian restaurant at the ferry exit. The rooms are nice and deserve a little lifting but all the comfort is there. Breakfast is very supplied with fresh and very well presented products. Very nice staff.

Super spa and fresh breakfast

Empty of beef hamburger so only shellfish and fish for protein. Fish from marine harvest and i dont eat farmed salmon. Crappy fish destroying fjords and eco system. Massage was good. Rooms dirty and poorly maintenanced. Please repaint rooms grey. Poor tv cable system, very slow. Poor quality of orders - didnt get drinks at the spa even though we ordered beforehand. Got 0.33l beer when i payed 150 nok for 0,5l.

Dont go here for the food

We spent two nights together as a family in this beautiful hotel. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with a beautiful view of the fjord. The spa is also very nice. On the other hand, for dinner it is to be avoided. It is, as is often the case in Norway, off-price. The quality is just enough. The breakfast is the same: barely correct, not even jam (after asking for it, I got what looks like apricot jam....) Another annoying detail: on the balcony of the room, a light remains on all night and it is impossible to avoid it....The curtains are not enough to mask the light. I asked the reception, I always get their answer.

For the view and the spa... and that's it.

We didn’t book a room in advance, but the director of the hotel welcomed us happily and we enjoyed a local salmon for dinner and enjoyed the spa and delicious breakfast buffet the next morning. So if you are a bit exhausted after hiking to Pulpit Rock then this hotel is the perfect place to go.

Fantastic service and a beautiful view from all rooms, spa and the restaurant

Average hotel. 4 stars is far stretch. Felt more like 3 star place.
Me and my boyfriend booked the place for couples weekend. And first surprise was that the beds in our room was not great for a couple. The "double" bed was two single beds pushed together. Room it self is very basic.
Spa section has seen better days and staff there was not service oriented at all. Best thing about it was view from pool. 
Dinner was good but nothing special and the same goes for breakfast. And again staff didn’t deliver but since it seemed that all girls working there are very young it’s possible they just didn’t know better.
Best thing about it is location with amazing view and great hike possibilities. 
We might come back but with much lower expectations

Very average

We took this Hotel because we thought it is a quite good idea to get a spa after preikestolen hike, so we drove of the crowded area around it and decided for the Spa-Valvaera Hotel. The Rooms are surprising good, perfect view, but thats it. The way to the room could be chilli because its a outside walkway. The spa is very disappointing, this need a renewal and of course some service. There are no sauna towel, no bathrobe, not slippers,  I've had to ask the bored girl at reception and than she gave me a towel, thanks need some more and a bathrobe would also be nice, but no question. she could have thrown the towel at me, that would not be so much worse. The sauna was half running, no soap at the showers, that pissed me really of.  The restaurant is ok, standard food not really surprising. I wouldn't choose again.

This Hotel got its best times behind it

The hotel had its own boat launch, but unfortunately we didn't have one, but there were terraces at the bar. At the half-board there was a three-walk menu with a choice of two main dishes, which was sufficient and very tasty. The breakfast menu was not so big but something of everything: cheese marmalade yogurt, rice cooked eggs, raw mirrored beans, bacon beans, etc. The spa area is small, swimming is hardly possible, but great views of the water. Sauna and whirlpool.

Rooms with fjord view

The property is situated on the banks of the fjord and all the rooms enjoy a fantastic view. The room is clean and well furnished. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is clean, although a little small. The spa with swimming pool overlooking the fjord is memorable. Breakfast with a wide choice. The price is right.

That's very nice.

A good night's stay in a hotel in a wonderful location. The view is splendid. The two bedrooms are fine. Entrance separated from the outside. Guests picnicking on tables arranged in the large lawn in front of the hotel, on the banks of the fjord. A good address at a reasonable price in my opinion.
