Warm and friendly place with soul, tradition and atmosphere. The staff was very sweet, the evening buffet was very tasty, and all in all this was a very good experience. I booked last minue because I needed somewhere to stay while driving trough the Strynefjell, and I was so pleasantly surprised by what awaited me. It feel incredible to relax here after a big hike previously that day.

Stopped by for dinner during our vacation passing through Grotlid. Althouth my wife and I were not hotel guests we were greated in the most friendly manner and given good trip advice… This resulted in us deciding to have dinner at the hotel… Great food and excellent service. All in all a wonderful experience. Thanks!!

Stopped for lunch with a group.  The food was lovely. The staff was charming.  The lodge was charming, very full of wood.  The scenery was amazing.  Other worldly.
So glad we got to visit.  Summer visit. Lovely!

We spent one night in august. We booked one standard room and one comfort room. The comfort room has more space, with space for sitting, and nice view on mountains, so if you can, book a comfort room. The hotel is very charming, kind of chalet, beautifully decorated, many spacious places for meals but also a very large lounge and bar, and other sitting rooms. The food for breakfast and dinner was suite good, with many choices in the buffet. The location is a bit lost, but very close to Geiranger, and in fact very nice, on a great scenic road. The only inconvenient I must however point out to give an honnest and complete review is that in the room we could hear all what was happening next room, so the wall was thin. For that reason I am not sure we would stay longer than a one night stop. But overall for just a stop, it is a completely nice hotel we can recommend.

Fantastic arcitecture.......supernice , friendly staff. And cosy room.  That`s it.......
Could be ...cause of covid-19....... (i hope).  We expected far more when it comes to food......  1 choice of dinner....and a Very disapointed breakfast standard. For a Hotel like this we really expected much better. With this kind of foodservice the price is Far to high.  And no  ...TV, coffemaker ....

Good food and a nice atmosphere I would really recommend this place for lunch, it is clean with efficient and friendly service the restaurant name is Fjellkro in Grotli next to the hotel and has a big parking 

We enjoyed one night with tasty buffet and a nice hike in the mountain. Room old but ok. Bathroom looked newly renovated. Nice breakfast. Perfect if you look for good foot and mountain hikes. Nice common area.

We stayed here for night in transit from Flam to Trondheim - Although the front desk and restaurant service was friendly and efficient, overall we were disappointed in our stay.

The old ski lodge is in a remote and peaceful location, offering ample parking, a cafe, bar and restaurant. As other reviewers point out, the rooms are old (but clean), with newly renovated bathrooms. The rooms were also missing some of the amenities that tend to be common in Europe - a TV, safe, kettle for tea/coffee, hair dryer, fridge. The walls are very thin, and you can hear every door open/shut in the hallway, and you can hear the voices in the adjoining rooms.

Breakfast was included in the room cost and sufficient - a variety of hot and cold options, although no basic scrambled eggs.

I would not stay here again.

Friendly service; No TVs; Thin Walls

A regular cafe-stop on travels the last 36 years. It is sad that level is declining, from first class cafe/restaurant to medium range. The preprapered food can be presented more delicate. Two weeks ago We just decided not to eat and drive on. Today I was told they lack supply and from dinner menu only one main course and burger was available. Food tasted good, but selection was Very limited. Staff did their best but management seem to have a job to do.

The hotel is good. We came back after a few years, as we liked the hotel and the food.
In these corona times they have had to offer ready-made portions both for breakfast and dinner.
The portions were small and not very impressive. I am sure they could have made more of it. Bit disappointing....
