My wife and I stayed here for two nights on our way from Bergen to Oslo so we could see the fjords up close. We had a really nice time thanks to the hospitality of hotel manager Magnar and his team. 

The hotel’s approach is a simple one that lets the surrounding area shine. Rooms are clean without a lot of fussy decor. They let you focus on one thing - the spectacular views of the fjords.  Our room was a bedroom and a sitting room. Both had jaw dropping views of different mountains. 

We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel both days. The breakfast was enough to fuel you for a day of adventure outdoors. The dinners were food. The food was very fresh. Ask Magnar where they sourced the meat or fish or produce and the answer was always “our neighbors.”

Dragvik is a pretty remote area but you can go on a great and challenging hike that starts just outside the front door. To do anything else you need to go to nearby Balestrand, population 800. Balestrand has a few restaurants, a grocery store and an adventure center where you can book a RIB boat tour of the fjords or a kayak tour. We did both and I’d recommend them. Even though you could hit a golf ball from the hotel to Balestrand, you can’t walk there because of the water. So you need to take a bus that goes every couple of hours or ask Magnar to take you. He’s always happy to (for a fee). 

If you’re looking to explore the fjords up close, this is a solid place to do that.

A nice place to see the beautiful fjords

This little family run hotel right on the Sognefjord is a calm retreat from the tourist crush of Norway in a nutshell. The rooms have a spectacular view of the fjord. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, with local fresh ingredients. The hosts were very accommodating, even packing a breakfast to go for our early express boat. The hotel offers transportation from Balestrand for a fee, or you can take a quick bus ride. Walking is not a practical option due to the narrow roads. 

Lovely retreat on the Sognefjord 

100% good stay here from our arranged pick up and warm greeting at the hotel. Our cabin was clean and comfortable with amazing views over the fjord to the mountains.
Breakfast was plenty with choices of hot or,cold food just ask staff if you want hot food and also ham and cheese from the fridge which I thought was a good idea instead of it being out in warm weather.
Lots of wildlife to see if you sit quietly out in the wooded natural grounds, including a nuthatch and red squirrel. You can hear owls at night.
Staff really friendly,hardworking too. Nothing is too much trouble and advice for bus,ferry is willingly given.
No tea/coffee in cabins so take a supply.

Perfect first stay in Norway.

We had the most charming welcome by the hosts, they are extra accommodating and friendly and made us feeling very much at home.
The location is in a beautiful area and all rooms are nice, comfortable, sparkling clean and have a great view over the fjord .
It's very close to Balestrand and also to some excellent hikings and breathtaking surroundings.
All of our meals were delicious.
Definetlely worth the money and visiting! I can't recommend enough. I would stay here again and again.

Incredible and cozy hotel for an enjoyable stay

All the basics are allright: friendly staff, small hotel, great views over the fjord.
But something felt a bit off, it’s just not our kind of place. The interior looked outdated, the clientele too, the staff too obliging, and long after Covid restrictions have been loosened, the owner kept wearing a facemask (making him difficult to understand) and insisting on bringing the breakfast to our table, because a buffet would be too dangerous. It’s just all a bit peculiar.

Our Comfort Cabin is the reason why I still give it four stars, it was very spacious, veranda overlooking the fjord, quiet, spotlessly clean and luxurious beds + reclining seats. Definitely a place to chill out. We just sat there for hours, pretending to read, but actually just staring at the fjord.

Great cabin, seems to cater for older people

Nice and cozy hotel with very friendly staff and nice view! It’s about 10km from the village center, so a car is preferred, but it can also be reached by bus. The food was also surprisingly tasty and good! I can really recommend the restaurant.

Good food, good service

Completely worth it. Slightly outside of Balestrand but it allows you to explore the fjords. The hotel located perfected in the peninsula of Dragsvik and the view is spectacular. Hotel offer pick up service from Balestrand. 
Had a room with access to balcony with unobstructed views in tranquility.
Food in this hotel was amazing. 

You can't beat it

We stayed here for a week and were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived by Magnar,Anna and all the friendly staff. We came by ferry to Balestrand and were collected by mini bus and taken to the hotel. 

The Dragsvik Fjord Hotel stands on a peninsular with magnificent views in three directions. One could spend hours just looking out over the fjords, pure peace and tranquility. We even heard a tawny owl at night!
You can sit in various different places outside the hotel, on the terrace or different spots in the garden and in the smart summer house. Our room was spacious with a small balcony and views over to Balestrand. The bed was superbly comfortable and our en suite facilities had a great shower.
Looking out over the Fjaere Fjord whilst having breakfast was one of our favourite times of the day. You must try the apple cake made with apples from the orchard by the owners' mother, it's very good! After the meal, relax in the cosy lounge with a coffee, perfect.
There are several cabins which you can also stay in if you wish to be more private. 
This hotel was an excellent base from which to explore the area and an oasis of calm. We would highly recommend this place and hope to visit again one day.

Lovely family run hotel in breathtaking setting.

We had a short stop for drink. Ended up eating thier delicious apple cake with ice cream. It was wonderfull. Excellent views from the hotel. Very warm wellcome at reception and fast service. All was good.
We ll try to stay here on our next visit to Norway.

Short stop at Fantastic Hotel

This is the best location for a hotel in the area. It’s not in Balestrand, but rather in Dragsvik which is a peninsula across the fjord from Balestrand.  There’s not much in Dragsvik, other than hiking trails, so we had to be driven by Magnar (150 Krone each way) or take the bus to Balestrand each day.  The bus has limited times so you need to plan accordingly.  It’s a quick ride (10 min) to Balestrand, so we felt it was worth it to be away from the other hotels and restaurants and in Dragsvik where you have panoramic views from the hotel rooms.  

The restaurant at the hotel is mediocre for dinner but good for breakfast, which is included with room.  We had two rooms - luxury and comfort.  Luxury doesn’t cost much more than Comfort and much better quality.  Comfort rooms have this space issue in the bathroom where the toilet encroaches into the shower space but it’s manageable.  The rooms are clean and again, the views are phenomenal so you wake up to a picture perfect vision!  

Staff is friendly and responsive.  

For Norway, the price is reasonable.
