During my recent visit to Lagos, Abeokuta and Abakaliki, I stayed in about 5 hotels, and undoubtedly AHI Residence was the best.
The prices are moderate and quite satisfactory for the type of services I received. The staff are very polite, understanding, kind and professional. The room is very clean, spacious and with clear instructions on how to maximally enjoy the facilities. 3 towels in the bathroom, A refrigerator, even a slippers and other basic furniture required to make one comfortable. 
The only complaint i had was the bathroom which was just very tiny. A tall person could hardly bend down to wash the legs. Though with this limitation, I'd choose AHI residence anytime I visit and as well to anyone.

AHI Residence -  Fare Price, Excellent Services, Comfortable room

I stayed at AHI Residence for 4 nights. 
The room was of a good size and reasonably priced. With breakfast included I paid around 14K Naira per night which made up for the absence of scenic views and exciting location.
The food in the restaurant was of a good standard and again reasonably priced.
The staff were particularly nice and receptive.
I would have give this hotel a higher score if it wasn't for the "planned" fumigation during my stay which required me to be away from the room for several hours. I wasn't made aware of this when I booked or when I checked in. This was bad enough, but then they didn't keep to time. I was told  it would take 3 hours to complete and when I returned 3.5 hours later, the fumigation hadn't even started.
With the exception of this incident, it was a really good place to stay.

Surprisingly decent for the price

Quite comfortable rooms, clean toilets, excellent staff service and good food. I will definitely stay again. Non alcohol and non smoking. Good value for money paid. The conference centre adjoining is also fantastic. the environment isn't as good but can be overlooked.

Homely

Lovely  bread and breakfast fast hotel. Good value for money in relatively safe neighbourhood.  Will definitely stay again.

Compared to the overpriced rates of other hotels this was a boon. It does not necessarily  have the street  cred but it is one of better  most cost effective  and safe places to stay.   

Lovely b and b

Well, stayed here for one night between arriving in Lagos and traveling up to Ibadan. It's about 20 minutes from the airport, and useful for heading out of Lagos (it's near one of the highways). It's safe and secure - always a consideration in Lagos - and on a quiet street. There's nowhere to walk, so be prepared to stay onsite.

Staff were friendly, and the rooms spacious, clean and well-maintained. Internet is free and rapid. A few things to consider. AHI doesn't take non-Nigerian credit cards, so you need to pay in cash. Also, onsite there is no alcohol which depending on your predilection is a blessing or severe trauma (after arriving from the UK, for me it was the latter). It is possible to send out for beer, though this can only be drunk on the rooftop patio - which to be fair has good views over the city. There's no lift, so be prepared to drag your suitcase up some flights of stairs.  

If you're a veggie like me, the restaurant has only a limited choice - and you'll need to be VERY clear what you don't eat (after a long discussion about my not eating meat, my meal was served with goat and offal - which I was told I could just "eat around" - right....). 

I would certainly stay here again, but I'd maybe be better prepared next time :)

One final point: Lagos airport is an unpleasant, crowded, hot place. Be wary, on guard for scams, and make sure your paperwork is all sorted BEFORE arriving (including your Yellow Fever certificate, which they WILL check even if arriving from the UK).
