Casa del Soul

Stayed here for 12 days over Christmas with other family members. As so many have mentioned Randy was a great host, although he was away for our entire stay with an ailing relative. We booked our trip back in August and I asked multiple questions not only about his place but in general about the country. He rarely took longer than a few hours to respond and gave great advice. He arranged airport pick up for us as well as finding us a chef who came in on Christmas Day to cook turkey dinner for 7! His housekeeper Yammi was great and prepared a fantastic breakfast every morning. We picked up Dorado, shrimp and lobster at the fish market and for $20 she made us ceviche, fish tacos, grilled lobster and garlic shrimp with all the fixings, it was amazing. The pool area provided a ton of room for all of us and we never felt crowded at all, it had a good mixed of full sun and shaded areas. I am an early riser so was up before sunrise and loved sitting watching the bay as it got light, with the flocks of Frigate birds, Pelicans and Vultures soaring over on the morning thermals. Grackles and White faced Mocking Jays were in the trees all around and the Howler monkeys were visible now and again. I would hike the roads over to the Jesus statue every morning, it was a great workout! I also walked over to the sandy beach that you can see in the distance from the patio. It is a 3 minute walk to the beach in front of the house and I made it over there and back in just over 1 hour but you need to do it at low tide. Aeromexico cancelled our outbound flight and we arrived home 36 hours later than we were supposed to, missing New Years! Would definitely go back again but next time will fly Canadian or American carriers there, not Aeromexico!
