The entire feel of this hotel is weird. After arriving early we couldn't check in but were told to pay. No hello, no welcome, just pay. 

Came back later to check in and pay. Credit card? The owner said can't. It wasn't working. Gave her $100 and she had no change. Said to go to the supermarket now and her change. Ok will do after check in. 5 mins later knock on the door oh she has found change.

The receptionist would never do anything until she has asked the boss first. Who would also suddenly appear when you left your room or came back to the hotel. The owner is very rude not friendly and is a little dictator.

The room is stuffy no window and neat the hotels staff area who watch tv loudly and wake up very early.

There are numerous signs with do not do this and do not do that but none saying have a nice stay. Examples posted below and there were all in my room.

The soap and shampoo was left on the toilet top and the towels hook and bin next to the toilet. All a lot more u hygienic than putting your suitcase on the bed.

The floor was very dirty in the room.

Avoid this place and go to another hotel.


Twilight zone bates hotel feel.... stay away!

Unfriendly hosts. Hotel is all about ‘do not’ and not about having a pleasant stay in Matagalpa. 

Any requests were welcomed with a miserable face and seems as if you are annoying them.

Room was ok, only saving grace was that it had a warm shower but you cannot use the aircon, they said that it was a different price but booking websites do not give you the option for aircon rooms. (hotel facility lists fan)

Breakfast was fruit, juice, piece of sweet bread and the worst coffee that was served in this coffee growing region.

Would choose another place if I returned to Matagalpa.

Errrr, totally weird owner. Rooms ok. 

What’s a great hotel! The owners are so friendly and will love to sit and chat with their guests. So very helpful as they took the time to sit and tell us many useful things about the city. Room was clean, quiet, and pleasant. How showers, TV, comfy beds all at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend this hotel to any traveler seeking reasonable accommodation at budget prices.

Wonderful stay at a great price

‘Most annoying hotel stay ever.’

➖ First thing was told the credit card machine did not work consistently and could I pay cash. Should have been my que.
No ice and wouldn’t store mine
Room felt like a stuffy prison cell with NO windows or ventilation. We would leave the fan on for circulation when we went out and every time when we returned it was unplugged from the wall!
Had to beg for an extra pillow. Extra pillow was gross. 
Shower water heater very temperamental.
Bed was hard. 
Asked for extra hand towel and told NO, 1 per room!
Room had 2 beds. No blanket on 2nd bed
No a/c not included in price. A/C unit in the room but was never made available...did not offer it.
Dingy towels & sheets
Location to far from main part of town. 

One other guest mentioned staff was strange. That’s because they are ruled by a ruthless dictator! Staff cannot do ANYTHING without checking with the owner. Kept running back to her quarters every time we made any small request.

After having our room cleaned, we noticed there was not a bar of soap in the room. When we asked a staff member for some soap the owner showed up at our room stating there HAS to be soap in our bathroom. We invited her in and proved there was none. Then we got 1 small bar. 
No Umbrellas on request.
No windows!

Breakfast was a piece of bread, a few slices of banana, and watermelon, worst coffee ever(we’re in Nica... “coffee land”!) 

The help stood over me at 9:30 to grab my cup away and clean up all signs of breakfast and coffee. Coffee from 8:30 to 9:30 ONLY!

3rd day they cleaned the room and took my extra pillow I had begged for. When I asked for it she lied and said they were sold out and had none. Checked Trip Advisor and they had rooms available!

On Check out morning 10:50 they knocked on our door and told us we had to be out in 10 minutes.

Lastly, and importantly...we are NOT room snobs or complainers. We always want to make friends with hotel staff wherever we stay. This place was Like a prison camp run by Nazis. Lots of better options in Matagalpa!!!

Most Annoying Hotel Stay Ever!

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst travelling through northern Nicaragua. The standard of the hotel and rooms is in a really poor state and needs attention. The beds were shot, sloped into the middle and with old tired pillows. We both slept poorly during our stay.

The breakfast was also a disappointment, a small selection of fruit and a different type of bread each day. It was never enough so we always ended up buying more. 

All the rooms are face inwards with no natural light so very gloomy and bad air circulation, not somewhere you want to relax. To make matters worse, the communal areas consists of wooden chairs and sofas which are uncomfortable.

The host / owner of the hotel was also a little rude at times and came across badly. 

Only positive is that the rooms were fairly cheap and wifi was good.
