Excellent stay.  The kids loved the pool.  Could have done with decent sink plug and some better knives in the kitchen but otherwise great.

Home little place with lovely staff near some great restaurants.

I needed a room that was suitable for mother & adult son & they accommodated this very well with a huge bed in lounge & separate bedroom. The rooms are spacious, great having a table & chairs, good sized kitchen, wonderful shower. Parking is a bit tight. It was value for money

It is very central and easy to get to any direction around the Whangarei area..Plenty of options close by for dining and supermarkets close too. The disabled unit was easy for my husband who has mobility issues. Staff very helpful and obliging. Would stay there again

Great accommodation overnight.Room was clean and tidy and ready for us to check in.Check out was easy enough and plenty of parking available.Would stay again if needed.

The motel surroundings were clean, quiet after 9pm and a very friendly cat called Momo which out daughter took a liking to.  The room we stayed in had very comfortable beds and pillows.  The inside of the room was clean and tidy.  The location of the motel was very close to amenities such as Woolworths and New World to grab afew things.  A very pleasant short stay😁

The lady of the property took time to ring and advise me of the spa not working properly, as it wasn’t working when we stayed a couple days before hand. she wanted to know how we felt about still booking before she took the payment out 😊 that was top notch 👌 not only that, she also went and warmed the room up for us as we were arriving 5 minutes before the last check in time at 7pm, so it was nice n cosy when we got in. Awesome service

older but well decorated and everything works. clean tidy and relatively comfortable. One of the better experiences in this age of property. Still single glazed but well heated and maintenance better than a lot. Unit compendium could use an upgrade it felt sticky and looked well used, in these covid times it should get checked more regularly. We carry sanitizer it was handy!

better than a lot

Myself and 2 children ( 18&9) stayed here for a night . The man at reception was very friendly and helpful . We had a stand alone unit near the pool . Upon arrival they had out the heat pump on for us to take the chill off which was a lovely thought . It was extremely tidy and clean . The bed was amazing and we all had an sound sleep. 
Close to everything with Countdown and New World a mere 500m away. Would definitely stay here again .

Clean , tidy & handy location

This is a great motel. 
After Easter camping washed out this was my bolt hole. I needed dry and wifi for a couple of days of work.
The management are friendly, efficient and considerate. 
The room was fab- fresh, clean and spacious. With big comfy bed, FULL and well equipped kitchen (speedy convection hob and oven), the bathroom is new with a powerful hot shower. The little detail of a provincial style table [rather than ugly built in desk unit] is cute. 
Double extra points for clear signed in room recycling, no single use bathroom products and they don’t take the towels when you don’t need them too! 
There’s a small pool, but it was seasonally closed in mid April :( 
The negatives… there’s no cafetière and the shower door leaks! 
Would recommend and would happily return.

Continental flare and quality.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Continental Hotel. I orginally booked for two nights and extended by a night because it was convenient and had a great pool that I had all to myself in the morning and the afternoon while everyone else was out and about. It is an older style block brick hotel which is great beause you dont hear anything from next door, and I usually hear everything! My first room was a King studio which was in a one story block opposite the pool. It had a very comfortable King size bed with fresh clean linen. The kitchen had all of the basics needed, decent size coffee cups and a container of milk. The room was very tidy and clean. The TV had a few sky channels but had a HDMI port. The second room was an upsatirs Queen room that was exacty the same except a Queen bed and a single. There was an option to order a continental breakfast but I didnt take that option. There is a New World and Countdown just down the road and heaps of takeway options. Yu could walk into town ( probably 20 - 30mins) but I chose to drive ( 5 min) to the town basin that has some great eateries.

A great stay in Whangarei!

The property was clean & tidy. Advertised three satilite channels. There was only one Sports & freeview TV we told management & they gave us a story about this. Then said to enjoy their swimming pool!! The parking outside our room was taken when we went to dinner when we asked management they told us you can park anywhere & were not helpful about this we were not happy. Also blackout curtains would  improve the rooms.

We visit Whangarei about once or twice a year and we often found it hard to find somewhere nice. This motel was great. The room was a bit dated but very clean. We were in a 2 bedroom unit and it was very spacious. The kitchen was well stocked. No sky tv but the wifi was great so we managed to stream with it. The pool and spa was great too on a hot day. Overall a great place to stay and we will definitely return.

One of the better motels in Whangarei

When we go to Whangarei for a getaway or business, we choose to stay at the Continental Motel as it is excellent value, super clean, modern and tidy, has a pool and a spa, super close to the main shopping area as well as restaurants, supermarkets, bars ... and the owners remember us and are very friendly and welcoming.  All of these things make for a great place to return to after a long day and we appreciate having this motel as a consistently great place to stay.

Best motel in Whangarei

Nice quite friendly motel. Probably not one you would look at if you were choosing from many, which only goes to show what you don't know.
Anton was exactly the person you wanted to meet at reception after a long day on the road. So after a swim in the pool, it was of the dine out. What a great location this is, near the famous 'Jimmy Jack's Rib & Craft Bar'
