Distinction Te Anau Hotel And Villas

I have read some negativitry by other reviewers including comments of "rundown" and that money needed to be spent. Well, not from us. We had a newly refurbished room (a major refurb is underway), and it was superb. Clean and well appointed, we also had a sublime view over the lake. However, what really enhanced the experience was the food. I always try the seafood chowder whenever and wherever it is offered, and this was the best ever including dishes from chowder "hotspots" in the USA and Cornwell. We ate in both nights and my advice is to have two entrees rather than an entree and main. The first night I had a king prawn cocktail unlike any prawn cocktail before. Seriously good, followed by, yes, the chowder. The second night queen scallops followed by chowder again. Breakfasts, think eggs benedict with smoked salmon, were equally outstsanding. Staff were genuinely friendly and the location relative to town was ideal. We are already planning to include this on our next trip from Australia.
