Very comfortable place to stay!  Beautiful lake views.  Easy walk to restaurants and activities.  We would love to come back !

We stayed in a private room with ensuite and lake view for two nights and it was lovely. Really clean, nice linens, comfy bed, nicely decorated and spacious, great view. Kitchen facilities are good and the late checkin process super easy. Highly recommend.

We loved Te Anau. The loft was great. Comfortable bed. Nice decor. The community kitchen was well stocked with supplies and clean. We appreciated being able to do laundry. The property was well-located and peaceful.

A great site for our post-Milford Track recovery night.  A hot shower, comfortable bed, clean room and friendly staff.  Easy access to restaurants and shopping.

Awesome location, killer lake views!!!! We booked a private room and it seem brand new, we were there with 10 people ( in different room) Friendly staff and very helpful and good price too. Beautiful Host !!!! If we have a chance we’ll back definitely in the future.

My stay at Lakewood Lofts in Te Anau was the highlight of my trip around New Zealand. This place is truly a gem! Situated right on the lake, the location couldn't be more perfect. The experience of watching the snowfall over the lake from the comfort of the Lofts was nothing short of magical. The serene and picturesque setting provided an unforgettable backdrop to our stay. Everything about Lakewood Lofts, from the warm and inviting atmosphere to the stunning natural beauty right at our doorstep, was absolutely wonderful. It's a rare find that offers a perfect blend of comfort and natural beauty. I can't recommend it enough to anyone visiting Te Anau.

Absolutely amazing experience. Kitchen was kept tidy and well stocked, communal areas were nice and warm. We had a 6 bed dorm, ithad enough room for myself and my group of friends plus the added person. Bathroom was clean too.

Very clean, easy walk into town and lovely view from the balcony.

On first arriving you think you’ve checked in to a backpackers, there’s multiple options at this property and each one is satisfactory for the price, we loved our room which was Greenstone room overlooked the lake and was very comfortable, for the price compared to other properties on Lakeside 10 out of 10.

We booked a night through hotels.com in  a loft room which had en-suite bathroom and a balcony. The view was great and the room was beautifully set up. Reception was only till 8pm but that didn’t cause any issue for us. There was plenty of parking. We’d happily return. A small fridge with milk would have made it a bit better.

Loft rooms here are amazing.

Great location, with lovely views of the lake. We stayed for 2 nights either side of a Milford sound day trip. Well worth travelling to Te Anau to do the trip from there, rather than from Queenstown. The hostel has all the amenities that you need including kitchen, shared storage, fridge, etc. Very clean room. Great base to explore Fjordland. Happy to recommend.

Great Base to Explore Fjordland

Stayed here with my friend in a cabin around Christmas time 2022. The whole of NZ was currently struggling with staff shortages, but LakeFront Backpackers did not let this affect their quality. Cosy cabin with extremely clean bathrooms close by. A spacious kitchen which was kept very well clean and tidy, which made everyone respect the space much more than usual. Great location close to town with lovely outdoor cooking and dining facilities to be used at leisure. Best backpackers I have ever stayed at.

Super clean and cozy

Great place to stay opposite of Lake Te Anau shore. Friendly and helpful staff, clean hostel, different room options (dorms, cabins, double etc. campsites as well as glamping). Short walk to town centre. All travellers I met supply good spirit so there’s a pretty good vibe everywhere im the hostel. There are also different common areas which takes a lot of pressure out during the peak hours of cooking. 

Just go there and enjoy yourselves.

Lakefront means good times

I was so surprised by this hostel, it was sparkling clean all the time and had everything you need and want - including a cinema room with a wide selection of films! We booked a private room which was spacious and had a shared balcony great for reading or sitting out looking at the lake. A very large kitchen to accommodate many people, it got very busy even with only 20 people in the hostel so it might get quite crowded in peak time.

We were so pleasantly surprised by how nice this hostel was. We booked a private en suite room and it seemed brand new, especially the bathroom which had a really nice shower. Plus a stunning location with lake views and our own balcony. We had a really good sleep and the kitchen and lounge areas were nice to hang out in too.

Awesome hostel

My husband & I spent two nights here, lovely staff & great stay . We booked the private room with bath, Bennie upgraded our room when she learned it was my husband's birthday trip. Bennie is super friendly & helpful, THX heaps! Our room is clean and new, cozy bed, very warm. Shared kitchen is clean&tidy,  providing everything we needed. We'll definitely come back!

Amazing Backpackers!

We spent the night before a twelve day hike - and the day after - in the Lakefont Backpackers.  The lodge is directly on the lake front in Te Anau in a beautiful location and is well equipped.  Two bedroom backpacker rooms are typically in small flats with a small kitchen and a shared bathroom.  They have comfortable beds, warm rooms and are well equipped with the necessities.  There is also a coin operated laundry available - a greater kitchen for more involved cooking and a comfortable lounge.   
We found the staff very helpful and friendly and all our reservations worked perfectly.  Our Wi-fi worked very well and we would be happy to come back any day.
