A short but extremely pleasant stay. Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Martin, however Lisa was absolutely lovely. They also have a very friendly sheep called snapper that lives in the paddock next to the lodge that loves to come up for a scratch :) genuine people running a genuine business, highly recommend. Thanks Martin and Lisa, all the best! 

slice of winter paradise 

Our family had a one night stay in a family room at Redwood Lodge. The room and Lodge were spotless and incredibly comfortable. The room itself was quite small but sufficient for our family. We could also easily make use of the communal dining room/lounge /kitchen which was fully kitted out. The location is easy to access in Methven and we were very close to Mt Hutt. We will definitely look to stay here again. 

Excellent value for ski getaway 

My husband and I rang late looking for a room. From this first phone call the service has been above and beyond. The place feels like a home. It is spacious, well decorated, and spotless. Had the best nights sleep in Room 4. Martin and Liz made us so welcome. Would be a superb place to book out for a large group. 

AMAZING!!

Redwood lodge in Methven is so relaxing and Martin and Liz are very friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay an unforgettable one. The rooms are very clean, comfy beds, good shower and most are en-suite. There is a very comfortable shared lounge and a  kitchen that has everything you need to cook. We stayed 8 nights and it felt like home away from home. Breakfast was provided and even included free range eggs. 
Methven is not far from Christchurch and would be a good place for a first stop on way south or on way to Lake Tekapo. The Rakaia Gorge walk(10km) is a short drive away. Peak hill (1240m) near Lake Coleridge(46km drive) is a must if you like hiking. Spectacular views. I would highly recommend this B&B

Ubelievable Hospitality

Places like this are getting thin on the ground these days. In a world where so many skiing destinations are becoming more 'resort' and less about the skiing it is nice to still be able to find somewhere clean, comfortable, affordable with a nice relaxed atmosphere. On top of that, the owners were extremely helpful and went above beyond - from trying to organise a ride to ChCh (my fault for stuffing up my plans) to finding and mailing my Laptop charger to me o/seas. If you are looking for lodge style accomodation in Methven, I can't find a fault with Redwood Lodge. Thanks to Liz and Martin for the great stay.

Feels like home

Very nice place to stay with friendly owner and nice guests.
Kitchen is clean, large lounge. 
Walking distance to town centre (Methven is small town though)
After I checked-out I had a trouble with a car. It was a bit early morning but she helped me a lot!!! Thanks so much.

Excellent accommodation all round. It really did feel like our home away from home. The fireplace was a bonus and we often found ourselves just sitting around it talking. Clean. Comfortable. Friendly staff. We’ll be back.

Wratten family ski holiday.

We received a very warm welcome on arrival.  Our double ensuite room was very well equipped and comfortable.   The lodge has a warm and cosy feel.  The communal lounge and kitchen are very well equipped. We enjoyed a very pleasant one night stay.  Easy walk into town. Would love to stay again. Excellent value.

Great place to stay with a very warm welcome!

Skil lodges are not usually our thing but as we intended to eat out during our one night night stay, it seemed sensible to shoot for a middle standard. It was lovely, and we virtually had the place to ourselves. 
Room three has bathroom (with heater) , electric blankets, oil heater, free wi-fi (worked perfectly in-room despite Booking.com noting "in public areas"), bedlights, comfortable bed, crisp linens, in short, everything an elderly couple could want. 
Log burner a beauty; so hot the door to the large, comfortable common room has to be left ajar. How civilised to sit on a comfy couch watching large-screen TV, a glass of sav and know its 8C outside!
Didn't use the communal kitchen for more than tea and coffee, but it passed my critical eye with flying colours. Walked 650m to the Irish under street lamps and back.
Interesting to see that all the recent reviews, since Liz and Martin have taken over, are unconditionally positive. They deserve to do well.
