We loved our stay at the cottages. They had everything we needed for our 3 night stay.  The rural outlook was awesome. We loved sitting outside looking at the mountains, it was so relaxing.  It was the best place for us to stay as so nice for us to come back to after a day out. Such lovely owners too.

Owners Rae and Darrell are just the loveliest couple and their cottages are wonderful. We only stayed one night but would happily have stayed longer. Warm and comfortable, the cottages have double glazing and all the features and amenities you could want. Definitely go back and definitely recommend!

We stayed at Kaikoura Cottage Motels for 2 nights in October 2020 and we will be staying again.

The cottage was well positioned to be private, with its own private outdoor space and parking space. It was very sunny and had a great view of the mountains and the sheep next door. It was very clean, and had all the usual items, including tea, coffee, soap, shampoo, hair dryer, etc. The artwork in the room was very tasteful and the beds were very comfy.

In terms of heating, cooling – there was a heat pump, HRV system, panel heaters, electric blankets and extra bedding in case needed. Cooking facilities had everything we needed to make breakfast / dinner. A French press is available in the room. The Samsung SmartTV in the cottage had Netflix.  The owners were very friendly and accommodating, check-in was quick and easy. SH1 is close to the complex, but there is very little traffic noise. The units are double-glazed so this dampens noise. There is a laundry on site, and a large common grass space with a kids playground and flying fox.

The fish and chips from Crazy J’s (about 50m away from the entrance) is highly recommended. Also, there is a very nice beach walk / bike ride in the dunes which is very close by.

We only stayed for one night (unfortunately), would have loved to stay longer.  The cottage was so inviting, so well equipped, two really comfy queen beds, heated towel rails, great shower, well stocked kitchen with high quality appliances, good sized frig/freezer, comfy couch, Netflix,  heat pump, dining table, and best of all the lovely private deck, looking out to the most amazing mountains (plus the little four-legged woolly friends over the fence). The cottages are an absolute credit to the hosts, who obviously work so hard to keep the place looking immaculate.  They gave us excellent guidance on what to do in the short time we were visiting.  Hope to visit again next year.

We had an absolutely awesome stay here for 2 nights. The owner went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Our cottage was warm on arrival (heat pump was switched on prior). The cottages are imaculately clean (could not fault!) and private. Everything has been thought of - comfy beds, bathroom mirrors that do not steam up, good kitchen utensils, beautiful gardens to admire the stunning view... I could go on! Needless to say, we will be back!

Fabulous clean cottages, very welcoming hosts and nice and close to town without being in the middle of it ,short walk to the beach, added bonus of netflix which was a novelty and a great way to catch up on Vikings!

The manager was delightful and offered great suggestions for seeing the seal colony and restaurants that were good in town. The little cabin was clean, charming and had exactly what we needed to make meals in our room. 

Slightly out of town but totally worth it. Spent 3 nights. Spotlessly clean, everything provided that you could possible need for a comfortable stay. Hosts very friendly & helpful with local knowledge.

These cottages are spotless,quiet,in a lovely setting and the owners could not be more helpful. Don't be out off by the distance from town. There is a picturesque cycle track close to the sea upon which you can stroll into town,  with a large supermarket roughly half way. I would highly recommend staying here.

Spent only 1 night in a cottage and it didn't feel enough! The landscape is incredible in the area. 

Each cottage contains everything you could potentially need to cook. They all are pretty big! We had to do laundry, which was really easy to do and pleasant to grab a bottle of local beer on our balcony while waiting for the machine to be done (which was located 20 steps away from our cottage).

Highly recommend - will be back!

Self contained large, comfortable individual cabins are located in spacious gardens and grounds a few kilometres from the town.  There were two bedrooms in my cabin, each with double bed, a good kitchenette with all you needed and a bathroom. 
No dressing table or decent surfaces to place suitcases and all the things you need to put on a surface when touring.  Main criticism is the lighting - very harsh and no soft lighting.  Either very bright or nothing and lighting is poorly placed, i.e. behind you when looking in the bathroom mirror.

Having registered, the manager kindly walked to my cabin, asking me to follow with my car.  Unfortunately, he didn't warn me about the large boulders near reception which were unseen from within vehicle and I drove into them, scratching and receiving minor dents on my rental car front bumper and requiring a day spent on return having to claim the accident on my car insurance.  I'm sure I'm not the first person to crash into these rocks and would suggest removing them here, or adding a taller white post so you can see them !

Great cottages in a beautiful landscape

We would definitely stay again - the hosts are a lovely couple who made us very welcome, booked dinner reservations for us, nothing was too much trouble. Clean as a whistle, plenty of room, well-equipped kitchen.

Beautiful views of the snow-capped mountains from our cottage.

This was one of the best-value accommodations we had on our tour of New Zealand's South Island.

Excellent value - Well-equipped, spacious and warm

Booked the one bedroom cottage that sleeps 4 for 2 nights. (No 7)The owner Daryl was very friendly and helpful and clearly takes pride in providing good accommodation. The cabin was simply furnished, very clean and well equipped although it should be noted that this cabin doesn't have an oven or a dishwasher but does have a two ring hob, a microwave and fridge /freezer. The shower was hot and powerful.
Our panoramic cabin had a mountain view although due to low cloud cover we only saw it briefly on our first day but it is there!
I would highly recommend these cottages which are on a small well maintained site and are less than 5 minutes drive to the supermarket New World and town centre shops and restaurants.
