This motel was perfect for our group which was 8 women. The owners were such lovely people, very friendly and couldn’t be more accommodating to our needs.
The units  were clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. 
The motel was situated in walking distance to cafes, restaurants and the beach. I’ve fallen in love with Sumner! 
I would definitely recommend this motel and will go back to stay again.

The couple running this motel are awesome. Sumner Beach is such a great village to unwind. So close to the city yet a lot more laid back. The beach and variety of eateries are all walkable from this motel. Recommended.

Fabulous host who welcomed us. Very friendly and genuinely wanted to make sure our stay was the best possible experience. 
The accommodation is centrally placed so no need to use the car after you arrive. Easy walking distance to restaurants, eateries, and shops. The Bohemiun bakery had delicious options for breakfast.
The accommodation was clean and well equipped with plenty of tea and coffee, which was appreciated. 
Would definitely recommend and stay again if we come back.

Had an excellent stay at the Sumner Bay Motel while passing through with a group of friends on motorbikes. Excellent rooms, clean and well equipped, furniture was nice, bathrooms had good showers. Excellent location and one of the most hospitable managers I've ever had the pleasure.of meeting.

This place has a great location just a block from the Sumner esplanade and walking distance to a dozen or so places to eat. The unit was spacious, functional, and safe. We had plenty of space for all of our stuff and it was a great place to relax and enjoy our time here. It's a bit dated (especially the carpet) but overall was a good place to stay.

Really lovely spot in sumner. The owners were super nice and helpful and the shower was one of the best showers I’ve had in my entire life.

Great location, relaxing stay

Based in the heart of Sumner, Christchurch, our stay at Sumner Bay Motel was an absolute delight from the moment we arrived and the best part is, it is a dog-friendly place to stay in this paradise!

There is allocated FREE parking for all rooms. The convenience of being close to local shops, bars, and cafes at your doorstep made exploring Sumner with the dogs an absolute joy. 

The motel and the staff itself exceeded our expectations in every aspect. Impeccably clean rooms, modern amenities, and thoughtful touches made our stay feel like a home away from home. The staff were delightfully friendly and always happy to go above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable by providing valuable recommendations of the local area, places to visit, and insider tips to enhance our experience.

In summary, if you're looking for a pet-friendly haven with easy access to local attractions and outdoor adventures, look no further than this gem in Sumner. We can't wait to return and create more unforgettable memories in this picturesque paradise!

Sumners Best Motel

This property was recommended to us as a great place to stay when travelling with your family dog.  It didn't disappoint.  Communication was fabulous, the apartment was clean and had what we needed for our stay. Fantastic location for access to beaches and walkways as well as Sumner village.  Highly reccommend.

Fantastic stay - great location.

Great location. Loved the private outside seating area. Free use of laundry. Sadly the TV   Signal was lost throughout the motel. It would have been helpful if we were told this at checking. Things go wrong we understand. Fixed on day 2. Free Netflix. Helpful staff. Clean and comfortable stay we would recommended it .

Sadly we stayed here for a single night on the wettest day in December - that limited things a bit.

However, the apartment was wonderful for our family of four. Large, clean, nicely decorated. Basically next door to some lovely restaurants and cafes. The beach is only a few minutes walk.

We plan to come back here and try for some sun in Sumner next time.

We had a wonderful stay here - the rooms were lovely, immaculate, well-furnished with many thoughtful details to ensure an excellent experience. The downstairs had a queen bed and bathroom, and upstairs was a pullout couch for our 13-year old daughter and she loved having her own space with a TV. Great location in Sumner with everything - beach, cafes, stores - in easy walking distance. Yet still v quiet and we were there on new year’s eve! Roger and Kay are fantastic hosts who saw to all our needs and a dream to work with. V reasonable rates for great accommodations, highly recommend. We’ll be back!

Excellent stay

My wife and I stayed 2 nights with our 8 & 5 year old grand daughters so needed a 2 bedroom unit. The motel unit was perfect for us , very well appointed with excellent amount of room and comfortable furniture. It is perfectly located for the beach and the town, everything within a block of you as well as close to the city and only 9 minutes over the hill to Lyttelton, recommend the Saturday market.
We were all made very welcome by Roger, we will be back to stay next time we go to Christchurch .

Couldn’t have been better.

Rodger’s personalized recommendations, tips and check-in orientation were g.reat, but the next day his service was way above and beyond expectations. While packing for our flight to Australia I realized my phone was still at the restaurant where we ate the night before. Since the restaurant didn’t open until after our flight departure I was in trouble. Rodger helped identify the restaurant owner then drove to his home, got the restaurant key, picked up and delivered my phone. He wouldn’t even take a few dollars for petrol insisting “it’s just part of the service”.  Of that the room was very clean, comfortable and in a great location near shops, restaurants and the beach. We will be back
