Great location opposite the beach. The room was very spacious, airy, clean and comfortable with a great shower. The kitchen facilities were ideal, too.We received a very warm welcome on our arrival and felt very relaxed in the accommodation and wished we had allowed time to stay an extra night. We can highly recommend Cave Rock Guest House.

Cave Rock Rocks

I liked this property and it offered everything needed for a short comfortable stay. The only criticism was the shower. It was impossible not to make a mess as there was no shower curtain and the whole floor, toilet etc got wet. This is easily fixed by installing a ceiling mounted track to hang a shower curtain on. Otherwise the hosts were very hospitable and their dog Bruce was a real bonus. Loved him.

My boyfriend, David and I had the most wonderful time at the Cave Rock Guest House.  The owners were extremely hospitable and lovely, the rooms were spacious and comfortable with stunning views of the sea, and we were so close to plenty of amenities, cafes and restaurants, and shopping centres.  The peace and quiet of the place was the highlight of our holiday.  We highly recommend this beautiful and restful guest house to anyone wishing to visit Sumner.  You won't regret it!  David and I will definitely be coming back.

Dream Holiday

If you are looking for a fantastic spot for a break away or place to stay while away for work, the Cave Rock Guesthouse is a wonderful choice. With excellent dwellings full of all the amenities you need, beautiful grounds and fantastic hosts who are helpful and welcoming, you wont want to leave at the end of your stay. It felt like staying with friends and if you are an animal lover, Bruce the pup is there to have a pat if you are willing and to keep you company. Or if cats are more your thing, the quake cats that reside at the guesthouse will enjoy a sit in the sun next to you while you read a good book. I couldnt recommend this place and it's awesome owners more highly. Big thanks to them for maki g our trip so wonderful.

Cave Rock Guesthouse is a home away from home.

Our trip got extended an extra night and we decided to spend in in Sumner beach.  We lucked out and there was a room available at Cave Rock and we were very happy with our stay.  The hosts were very gracious.  We loved having animals on the property.  Great location and an easy walk to anywhere in town.

Unexpected night in Sumner- great place to stay

Nice location but some 20 minutes drive out of central Christchurch.  Attached to a private house this was a compact garden room with exclusive use of large shower room.  Fridge, toaster and kettle provided in room and outdoor table and chairs on deck.  Friendly hosts with friendly dog and cats for pets.  Located across road from beach and within walking distance of bars and restaurants.  Be aware that payment is by cash as no credit card facilities available.

Beach location on outskirts of Christchurch City

This three room suite is simply amazing.  Consisting of bedroom, kitchen, living room, and private bath, this suite offers wrap-around windows with wonderful views of the beach across the street.

Since it is the only space on the second floor, it also offers privacy and quiet.

Cave Rock Guest House is only a short walk to downtown Sumner with its many restaurants and shops.

We stayed two wonderful days and enjoyed it immensely.

The second floor suite is UNBELIEVABLE!

It was wonderful. Our Host Gail was most gracious. We had the ground flour unit by the grage. It had glass door's and window's all the way across the front of the unit. A small patio with grill and chairs if one was so inclined. There was a lattice wall full of flowers, pots of roses and other blooming stuff. Just across the street was Cave Rock with a wonderful view of the beach. A restaurant with ice cream bar on the beach side. Back across the road was another restaurant and ice cream bar. Even though it was their fall there it was wonderful on the beach and both restaurants and ice cream bars were open and doing a good business. We ate at both restaurants and their food was really good. Just a short walk away is a small shopping plaza. With two more restaurants. One was Mexican. We loved it and would freely stay again. We were accepted as family with our own room to go and stay at will. Thanks Gail for our stay.
